(Jun 8 05, 07:35)J*sus rockin' the boat a little. I like that. Not sure what other people have said, but moving to NYC whether you are in the City (Mahattan) or not is a major pain in the *ss. Unless you know someone that can hook you up you are in for a lot of pitfalls. Watch out for BROKERS! They suck, they are everywhere. They will charge you a ton. Where are you moving from might I ask?

(Jun 8 05, 07:55)From Houston.......I probably wouldn't even think about it if we didn't have free rent. Her Uncle is highly successfull artist. He has studios in S. Carolina, Atlanta , Tennessee and NYC.

once again, i suggest jersey city.....

(Jun 8 05, 07:59)You think I should consider this even with free rent?

Ohhhh HEEEEELLLLLL mang. Free rent is different. Just move there and feel the flow. Everything is ten times faster. You'll dig it. Lived there for three years myself. Had to get out, too dirty and overpopulated for my blood. I know live like a king for the same rent whereas I lived with cockroaches before even in Upper East Side.

(Jun 8 05, 08:15)Pittsburgh. Eventually, moving out though. Not back to NYC. Too much hussle and bussle. Possibly DC or down South.

I live in Williamsburg. It's way less expensive than the city and only 15 minutes away. If you have free rent, why the fuck haven't you moved here yet? And don't ditch your car unless you move to Manhattan. A lot of my friends in Brooklyn have cars and use them all the time. I'm buying a station wagon in the near future. Beach trips baby

"Frankly i would look at the neighborhoods where everyone will tell you can't rent, like soho and little italy etc, to find the deals. No one's lookin there."

so true!!!!
i used to live on Lafayette between prince and spring, me and my wife had a rent stabalized apt that was only $235 a month for aa cute 1 bedroom.its out there! when people come out of their apartments ask them for the building's management number, and try to see if there any available apts, and sometimes you can find a deal like i did.
good luck!
:)
