The only problem with the above link is it tells me nothing of what to avoid. I guess thats what I would like to know.
Where to go, where to not go.

There should be a NYC, LA, and SF thread somewhere

I'm just damn excited about it.
Maybe I should buy some hair gel......or maybe not.......

i used to live in williamsburg, i lived in manhattan, i live in queens...nothing beats manhattan, as life is always awake and dont listen to the haters here, you can find a place to live anywhere for anyprice...you have to be hungry to find it...its expensive but reality is 2005 not 1985 life IS EXPENSIVE everywhere. queens is excellent as its very close to manhattan, and its the same priced rent as manhattan but the size of the apartments triple, i have a very large 2 bedroom lots of windows big closets 1 block from trains eveerything, and the rent price i pay works out in my favour, ifi was in manhattan for all i have i am guessing per month $3500+...also remember when getting any apartment in nyc, there is the first and last month, plus 1 month deposit, and commission fee of broker which is usually 5% of annual rent, or if you are lucky only 1 month rent for a minimum total of an average of $7000+
good luck!!

I lived in Brooklyn and Hoboken, NJ, but I was always in Manhattan so I moved here. The commute blows. DON'T take a car, it's more trouble than it's worth. Trust me.

My advice is move to manahattan, I found my apt last year, and it costs me the same for a 1 bedroom in the west village as a studio in Williamsburg, and honestly it wasn't even Williamsburg it was Bushwick.
Frankly i would look at the neighborhoods where everyone will tell you can't rent, like soho and little italy etc, to find the deals. No one's lookin there.
New York was the best thing I ever did for myself.

The rent is free. I'm thinking this is a once in a lifetime chance. Might as well just do it and make the move.........

Hey e-pill you ever been to the beer garden in queens, that place is DOPE!

- woodyBatts0
Hey toasterBoy...
What do you have to lose?
- woodyBatts0
Oh and having a studio with 2 people will get old reaaaaaaaaaal quick.
- Toasterboy0
Well the stipulation is that we have to be in school and further our education. I am sure that we can do it. Just need to set some things up.
- Toasterboy0
Well, right now we have a studio in Houston and we have lived here for three and a half years, so it can't be worse than this.
- woodyBatts0
I don't know how big studios are in Houston, but I heard everything in texas is BIG!
Studios can be pretty damn small in new york, especially manhattan, just fair warning, however if it's an older person they probably have a pretty dope space.

Sell your car..... And make over 60..
- Toasterboy0
Texas has been great, exept for the obvious problem of our president, but I won't go there.
My studio here is about 1200 sq ft and has an 2nd level which I have built. Its downtown and the rent is f*&^%ing cheap!
$330/month all bills paid and free cable/dsl.I have a feeling it won't be like that but, maybe the same size. I don't know though....
