Of course, now that our education system is tanking and high level chinese and indian engineering grad students can now actually make a living in their own countries and are treated like shit here in the US I am sure the USedge in tech has about another decade worth of run to it...

(May 10 05, 06:30)Dude, what...? I beg to differ, I know plenty of white/caucasian students that are extremely intelligent. Go check out MIT, CMU and Stanford. I used to work at CMU, please don't make assumptions. What about the number of Russians that come into the US and find jobs. All of my Indian friends are pretty happy in the US and could never even come close to making the same wage in their homeland. America is always evolving, that's the beauty of it.

I think this is kinda what Weimar germany must of felt like. And I really wish I was kidding.

(May 10 05, 06:34)hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion ;)

In Portugal we have them since "ever" and with finger prints on it...

JazX I DO hope you are right. My fiance is a cardiologist in NY and nearly all of her cowrokers are either Indian, Japanese of Chinese. The number that actualy want to stay here after they finish their residencies and fellowships are alot lower than even a few years ago.
Also - GE sponsored a World's Advanced Science fair. In the US they got 60,000 applicants. In China they got 6 million. IS the general level of the same - no, but numbers don't lie.
We have the worst presidential admin at a very crucial moment in history. With the growing global economy, the rise of the ability of a tech police state - it's like a perfect storm.

I think quite a lot of EU countries have ID cards do they not?
Sorry to digress but... Anywhere you would recommend visiting in Porto Elfangio if you only had a couple of days there?

the US military had the ability to read a newspaper on the street of Beiging from outer-space since the 1970s
noffink noo in dat.
what is noo, (or will be) is that us ordinary peeps of da streets will have that abliity too. Democratisation of technology/privatisation of war

IMO, in the US, you can be very happy with a mid-level type job. Like what we do, programming and design. Unless there is a Dr. in the house making tons of cash. hehehe
Overseas, you need to strive to be the best. There are so many more applicants and things are so much more competitive. Especially, places like China and Russia. It's a way out for them, because they aren't compensated the same way we are at a skilled positions.
Regardless of whom is in power. You think things were that different under Clinton or will be that different if Bush died tomorrow? Not so sure.
And as for a detoriating educational system, the kids I talk to know a hell of a lot more about computers and technology than I did at that age and I do just fine. They are bright, it's just their priorities that need adjusted.

Long long time I dont go to Porto my friend. I've lived there in the 80's early 80's :) I am living in Germany now
But I cant tell you the "Museu Soares dos Reis" its probably a nice place to visit and "Fundação Serralves". also the recent brand new "Casa da musica" and ofcourse "Ribeira" by the river with nice restaurants and bars.
But I would start a thread about this, maybe you get more tips.
And yes, here in Germany they also have ID cards

"I think quite a lot of EU countries have ID cards do they not?"
Yes, and since they're working on creating a superstate here, eventually there'll be an EU id card. BTW biometric passports in EU countries are on their way, as required by the US.
