I get uncomfortable at catholic weddings, too much singing and standing up and sitting down all the time. it really alienates outsiders.
- QuincyArcher0
yeah, kezza_2 is right. sometimes a particular religion won't let you get married in their church if it's an interfaith relationship.
but they won't prohibit it.
I don't mean to point fingers, but i think mormons are the only ones who punish members who marry out side the faith...

jimeeboy51,
Why marry someone that believes you're ultimately in the wrong and are going to spend eternity being tortured in a place called hell? You know the whole Caltholic... "There is no salvation outside the church"

man I have done exams in the Protestant religion course and the also the Catholic one, as well as theology, so I think I have a good broad understanding of it all. The religions are pretty much exactly the same part from how they take communion, one believing that it represents christ and one thinking it is christ. Other than that all other differences are predominantly cultural.
Its a bit like being british and saying your not European, then going to China and realising just how alike you and Europeans are.
what a load of crap kezza...back to work

Both have Catholicism and Protestantism have beauty and meaning- any relationship where there is competition in differences rather than admiration+respect is not on the right track.
And that goes beyond Christianity + romantic relationships.
Can't we all get along?!

how do you feel about that?

dob - like the article said...it's a for profit theater, and if they don't think the movie is going to do well, they won't play it.
but don't point fingers a religious types as being the only people incapable of accepting other people's beliefs...athiests/evoltionists... people are just as guilty in being closed minded...

Hey Jimee, one of my friends has a dad who's catholic and a mum who's protestant - I think he's sometimes found it hard growing up in that environment, given that his dad says he needs to "do good things to be made right with God" while his mum says "Jesus has done everything for you, so he makes you right with God". The mum and dad seem to have a pretty good relationship I guess, but from the kids perspective it has been difficult.

"Many people here believe in creationism, not evolution."
An alternative way to say this would be:
"Many people here seem to be stuck in the dark ages and just can't get to grips with the scientific fact that creationism is a load of douche."

Hmm...interesting replies. I had this conversation with a friend and it come out like this. Catholics are lead by the head of the church in Rome, so we are , if not, the largest religion practicing the same thing at pretty much the same time no matter what Catholic church you go into.
Whereas Christian Churches (other denominations) are pretty different from each other. One non-denomination church will be preaching something slightly different than another non-denomination church....why, bc everyone interpretes the bible in their own way. And many times, it can cause evil (slavery, racism, holy wars). At times, it can even turns into a cult following.
If everyone uses the same vows to get married, why is it much harder to get a divorce in a Catholic marriage, whereas its much easy for other Christians.
In the end, Catholism is more widely followed. But they are all similar except by the ways we practice our faith. No body is wrong or right, but there are endless arguments that lead to fingers pointing out that your practice is wrong.
If theologist can debate over this endlessly, how the hell do people have interfaith marriages like this. I just wish somebody can share with me their experience on how they got thru it. I'm not even a hardcore Catholic...its just a way I was raised up and sort of a culture. If you are still reading this, you are crazy, but thanks.

I just cant understand how a small reference to DNA would stop anyone from going to see it. No matter what your beliefs.
