I say everyone should butt out of other people's affairs.
People who are protesting doesn't know half the story. What rights do we have to put our own morals and values above another?
I find that it's awful that the money that Terri won is wasted on Lawyer fees. By the time this ends, she will have no money left to keep her alive. Who will pay for that?

"please don't take disciplers view of this subject as the view that all christians have on this topic."
please don't insult your audience with such obvious statements. if they are too dense to realize not every member of any given group is/acts the same, you are most likely trying to win the favor of the wrong [read: ignorant] crowd.

I know her parents make decisions to what happens to her "IF" she was single... but she's married. Doesn't her husband make the final say in this? Not her parents? Do the parents have any "legal" side to argue from? (not talking about the morally side)
*not arguing a point of view. Just want to know if the parents have any legal grounding*

"Mrs Schiavo's parents have spent seven years fighting to keep her alive, saying she can still lead a fulfilling life."
Doing what? Taking care of children, packing their lunch and helping them with their homework? Or working 40 hours a week?
For a typical, fully functional human being, a fullfilling life is quite subjective. But how on earth can her parents say her current state is fullfulling?

"But how on earth can her parents say her current state is fullfulling?"
they, can't - no more than you, i, or anyone else can say it isn't.

can't they do a brain scan or something and see how much brain activity is going on in there? Is she like Stephen Hawkings who can't hardly move or talk, but has a monster of a mind... or is she NOT?

Sad to say I bet her parents are pushing for her to be kept alive because they're terribly afraid to try and make closure with the situation once she's dead.
Fifteen years is a long time to allow someone to live like that because you're too afraid of life without them - especially considering these circumstances.

to answer clear, The court has appointed Terry's husband ,Michael, as her legal guardian. Most of the lawsuits were filed by her parents to have him removed as her guardian. All have failed.
In their latest appeal, they are claiming the courts have violated Terri's religious rights and her human rights.
I know sometimes the court system fails us, that is why there are courts of appeals and appellate court, etc. But the family has lost in 4 attempts to save Terri, that should say something.
I don't think this should be an issue of human rights. The court should make their decisions based on the quality of life Terri will have if she was kept alive with feeding tubes the rest of her life.
- SteveJobs0
so you think the court, some intagible entity, devoid of a spirit, soul or body, can claim to know or understand 'the quality of life'?
- piperboytoy0
It will be hard, but yes they have done so 4 times already.

this case has been presided over by 19 state judges in florida.
- SteveJobs0
and what proof do you have to make this claim, seeing how you're not Terri Shiavo?
- SteveJobs0
"this case has been presided over by 19 state judges in florida."
i don't know which joke this is, but it has a great punchline already!

I guess there will be 19 more books on Terri Schiavo coming to your local book store soon.!
One thing I don't understand is why did federal courts reject the appeals? And why did it take the senate to pass a special bill to have the Fed courts hear the case?
I thought all cases can be appealled through higher courts.

do you talk just to hear the sound of your own voice?
- piperboytoy0
i'm not Terri Schiavo, that's why I will let the court system decide.
- mrdobolina0
no joke Steve, just a fact.
- mg330
No one has said so yet...
But it was utterly insulting to that woman that the federal court said they wanted her to appear for questioning before them and that's why the tube couldn't be inserted.
From CNN:
March 18: A House of Representatives panel issues subpoenas for Schiavo, her husband and others to appear at a hearing...That alone shows how completely unknowing the politicians are of this situation.

I read this as a comment to this story and it really makes you think about just how shady this shit gets:
"The republicans are using this for future political gain. If they can trap some sensible dems into voting against their Terri-law, they can then come out in their campaigns, saying "My opponent voted to murder Terri Schiavo."
