brilliant, jevad.
Lives are not a "choice". Since when did it become acceptable for the termination of life to be a "right". I'll allow you whatever rights you want unless it involves the taking of another's life.

okay, I skipped reading all the above comments... I must be late to this thread and...
ANYWAY, is this lady living in the true sense? Does she have brain activity? Is her body alive but the brain is dead?
pretty simple, if she has brain activity help keep her alive. If the brain is dead PLEASE let the body die... she's been like this for 15 years!

Liquid,
Maybe to a person that sees things always in absolutes and always in black and white euthanasia might seem like Nihilism.

Mimio, i understand that this particular issue is not completely clear cut. One thing that is black and white - life and death. And I just feel every step should be taken to respect and preserve life in all forms.
Clear, she is not brain dead... fyi.

and the thread has devolved into feces flinging monkeys.

my point in starting this thread is that it is a family issue, not to be legislated by the government to be used as a political grandstand to rally the base. Anyone hear about the republican party memo that went out about this one?

(Mar 21 05, 10:41)as i said, you feel you have the right to tell other people what to do with their lives. this is a very anti-individual rights morality.
and no, its not "clear" she is not brain dead. bill frist (r) - a former doctor himself - used video footage to usurp the detailed scientific evidence of the doctors and claim she still has consciousness. he also claimed recently that you can get AIDS/HIV from sweat and tears. go figure.

from washington post:
In a memo distributed only to Republican senators, the Schiavo case was characterized as "a great political issue" that could pay dividends with Christian conservatives, whose support is essential in midterm elections such as those coming up in 2006.
