discipler= you are right about the fiction, but not about the gnostic gospels. They are 'debunkede' by those within the christian faith. So, does anything, ie the other 50 something gospels, outside the ordained christian faith have automatic invalidity?

i am sorry, it was a big world wide sensation. Search the gospel of mary on the interweb. The texts sit in a university in some middle eastern country right now. An arab shepherd boy found it and started using it as a fuel until archaeologists discovered it and did some testing. but because you are taking a postmodern relativist stand, you can say that is all false,

There is a science to the textual criticism that determined which books would comprise the canon of scripture and therefore legitimate reasons why 3rd century and beyond Gnostic writings are not present in our Bible. And what "50 other gospels" do you speak of, who were their authors and when were they written?

Other desciples, wittnesses etc. The same "kind" of people that wrote Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. All written years and years after the living people that experienced Jeses had died, just like the 'real' Gospels.
So you dont believe that the Bible was 'humanly' and not 'Godly' filtered through history by people like Constantine etc. (People in power, needing an additional way to control the masses and therefore destroying anything that threatens that control?)
P.S. The Davinci Code, the book, is fiction and should be treated as fiction.

puck, familiarize yourself with the science of textual criticism and it will answer all of your questions regarding the so-called gospel accounts. I would post it's methodology here, but nobody wants to read that much in this small of type. There are many online resources I can point you to if you are genuinely interested.
