BAD RELIGION LYRICS
"Kyoto Now!"
It's a matter of prescience
No, not the science fiction kind
It's all about ignorance,
and greed, and miracles for the blind
the media parading, disjointed politics
founded on petrochemical plunder
and we're its hostagesIf you stand to reason
you're in the game
the rules might be elusive
but our pieces are the same
and you know if one goes down we all go down as well
the balance is precarious as anyone can tell
this world's going to hellDon't allow
this mythologic hopeful monster to exact its price
Kyoto now!
We can't do nothing and I think someone else will make it rightYou might not think it matters now
But what if you are wrong
You might not think there's any wisdom in a fucked up punk rock song
But the way it is
cannot persist for long
a brutal sun is rising on a sick horizonIt's in the way
we live our lives
exactly like the double-edge of a cold familiar knife
and supremacy weighs heavy on the day
it's never really what you own but what you threw away
and how much did you pay?In your dreams
You saw a steady state a bounty for eternity
Silent screams
but now the wisdom that sustains us is in full retreat
Don't allow
this mythologic hopeful monster isn't worth the risk
Kyoto now!
We can't have vision for the future if it can't be fixed
Alien
We need a fresh and new religion to run our lives
Hand in hand
the arid torpor of inaction will be our demiseOh, Kyoto now!

of kyoto?
- blaw0
kyoto is certainly a step in the right direction. hats off to all the countries involved.

Its about f*cking time!

Kyoto ISN't step in the right direction. It's already too late for this. If the countries that actually signed it would REALLY spend all that billions as intended in KYOTO PROT, global warming would be postponed by some six years or somethin'.
The Earth would be much better off if we spend that money on fighting poverty, so the poorest countries could prepare themselves for all those terrible events the Nature is holding for us.
- blaw0
it's not too late to address destroying our planet. kyoto is not the be all end all, but is definately a start.
you'll get no arguement from me that the world's poverty is a dire issue, by the way, but i think a unified effort to reduce the damage being done to the earth is pretty damn commendable.

yes clerk, that pretty much summarises the problem.

sounds like someone has been reading lomborg and his cost-benefit approach to analysing complex systems learned from his right-wing economist friends at the copenhagen consensus.
:)
why not properly manage energy demand, reduce emissions, decouple carbon dependancy from economic development (and increase competitiveness and save money through improved process efficiencies) AND tackle poverty at the same time
- DanielLaskowski0
One thing leads to another, lowimpakt. I can only agree with you. Fighting poverty could include all that you listed. In a broad spectrum.

i like that Norweigan or Dutch Enviromentalist that claims things ain't as bad as they seem, I like optimist.

iam afraid because its going to be very hard to achieve what Kyoto protocol ask.
for exemple, in canada, the government have already reduce what they were first asking to huge industrial companies... the big industrial companie have a huge lobby.
iam afraid people will start to understand better when the climate will really affect them on a day basis :
(no water 3 days a week, member of family dying of respiratory problem due to pollution, vegetables and fruits cost 4 time the normal price, natural disaster)
selfishness will kill us

Except for your own country, benfal99
Canada first nation to pull out of Kyoto protocol

For the next few decades, the argument will be Money vs. Environment.
Does anyone honestly think Environment can win?
- lowimpakt0
yea, tar sands are just the type of way we produce energy in advanced societies..
Considering a Harvard study showed that in the US alone the burning of coal alone COSTS society $345 billion in pollution and health impacts would it not make sense for Canada to drop the polluting vested interests because they actually cost society far more than Kyoto?
http://www.reuters.com/article/2…
no, ok let Canadians keep paying out more because their government can't deal with the complex reality..
- Dillinger0
It has nothing to do with saving anything. It is about finding another bubble to make money from.

Kyoto sucks y'all, not the city, but this protocol.
