The Earth would be much better off if we spend that money on fighting poverty, so the poorest countries could prepare themselves for all those terrible events the Nature is holding for us.

sounds like someone has been reading lomborg and his cost-benefit approach to analysing complex systems learned from his right-wing economist friends at the copenhagen consensus.

why not properly manage energy demand, reduce emissions, decouple carbon dependancy from economic development (and increase competitiveness and save money through improved process efficiencies) AND tackle poverty at the same time
