Adam, that's good feedback, thanks. I posted it on craigslist as $175-$200. $200 a day I can do for the right person.

It's a tough situation. This month I finally got my own space instead of subletting, and hired 1 person full time and 2 freelancers.

2 yrs ago it was me in my apartment. So the overhead is a lot, and I have to be cautious. I don;t want to squeeze anyone, I'm very sensitive to it. I just have to be realistic about what I can afford. Everytime you add more overhead, you have to bring in enough $ to cover it, that's a lot of work.

firstly: $20 doesn't SEEM unreasonable, especially to those of us not working in NY.

however: a living wage is usually defined as the cost of renting a 2 bedroom apartment plus food and utilites. It's calculated that way so that a single working mom can afford to survive.

I realize that this is probably not a fealistic calculation for you to make, but for god's sake don't assume someone is "sharing an apartment".

I belive looking for an employee from a a specific demographic is probably discrimination.

-We're looking for a smart, talented, skinny, young, buhddist without much need for worldly possesions to join our team!

    how about 25-30/hr?

Hey Dave--in NY, you really do have to assume someone is sharing an apartment. A 2 bedroom APT in manhattan or around is easily $2000 a month!

This is why I'm looking for someone young--I'm a very young business, just worked my ass off to get out of my apartment and build a studio. I have to be cautious so I don;t overstretch myself. All of a sudden I have like $4000 a month in fixed expenses just to keep the office open, pay people, it's a lot

$20 isn't a ton, but it's not horrible. I posted it at $175-$200 a day depending on resume.

Oh, I'd like to add that I'm very proud that unlike our president, I've created a job in the last 4 years! ;)

I hired a good friend FT, she's my one FT employee. She and 2 PT freelancers make up the studio.
