I hate to point this out, but don't you think it could just be you? I also own an airport express, use time warners Road Runner service, and have an Airport base station for my wireless needs.
Like most Apple products I've never had any trouble. It was easy to install and setup. Granted that RR might have different polocies where you are, but I would doubt that they are so different that it would make your products not work.
Beign on hold 6 times? Maybe you aren't asking the right questions.. or maybe you just got a slew of stupid techs. At any rate you should blame Apple for a fine product.

as i stated earlier, the problem is a defective user, i worked for two years at customer service for electronics, and a good portion of people have no idea what their doing, or talking about, and bitch and complain that the products are crap, but they really havn't taken the time to read the manual. My favorite situations were when people came in with remote controls, bitching and complaining, and 9 times out of ten, the batteries were dead, or in backwards, we always joked that people should have to take a test before they were allowed to buy electronics.

The term RTFM comes readily to mind...

That manual is very badly written with no details about DNS #s
- ribit0
so this was just a DNS problem? that would mean you didnt have a problem getting an internet connection at all. DNS settings only affect whether you can use domain names instead of IP numbers...
Sure you had setup problems...but if we all started un-recommending against buyiing prducts anytime we had a setup problem, I would have had to warn you all about all of Apple, Adobe and Microsofts products (to name a few) by now...

I don't really mind setup problems. I mind three calls and five people contacted to fix it from Apple. And twice they blamed the ISP, which a bad tip.
I could see if it was the Airtunes, since that's a new product, but Airport Extreme has been around for a while.
I will post how the PC setup goes next month.
- function820
you have to understand that they can't see the problem, they're trying to diagnose it based on what you are telling them, its a very hard task
- derbs20
hahaha so it was a fucking DNS issue after all!
You, sir, are a troll, and a moron.
Please send your Airport Express back to Apple. And never post about computing issues ever again.
- nuarmy0
Whoa..
Sure he had setup problems but I'm sure that everone here has had some problems with something you'be bought. The real problem here is all finger pointing at Apple and just assuming that they made a bad product. Take the time to really figure out the problem.
And please, if you really are going to come back next month and post about how the setup goes w/ your girlfriend. Don't start going off on PC's as well.
If you have questions, ask. Don't be a dick.

Again, what good is a product if it's technical support fall so short that I almost give up and send it back. A better written manual would have helped. I understand the emotional ties to Apple, but they're just another company. They have their bad moments too.

i had that prob... i just called my company and they helped me register the airports MAC address..
try that?

I use Airport Express and Airtunes, and both work fine. And my 17" powerbook has excellent battery life. Apple has very good customer support, and the support page at apple.com has everything you pretty much need. So my counterargument is... don't let a crybaby discourage you from buying a great product. Especially when that same person gets confused when trying to set up something so simple.
- CyBrainX0
Yeah, resetting the Mac address was one of Apples recommendations. I called TWC Road Runner and the third person I talked to reset it for me. The first two didn't know what I was talking about.

PEBCAK

Yeah, I must be such and idiot since I've been using Macs since 1991, owned three, and used I don't know how many at jobs for the last 10 years.
All I'm doing is telling my story and letting people it might not be that easy to set up.
I'm sorry some of you have made such a cult of personality out of Apple that you need to insult people who get a bad product.
- mrdobolina0
I was thinking about buying this thing, plugs into your tv and stereo and has onscreen menus and a remote for playing mp3's and digi photos from every networked pc in the house.
- mrdobolina0
you would think that they would have a product that would stream video to the tv wirelessly also, but not yet. I may wait until then. currently that hp only works with 802.11b, it would probably have to be 802.11g or 802.11a in order to work with video.
anyone know of a product that does that?
