Well I joined in early 1999 so things were a bit different then, being that it was pre bush and 9/11, but my contract goes until late 2006 so there's not much I can do about getting out of this.
Does anyone out there know anyone who's been involuntarily activated? It's almost impossible to get questions answered by the Army, it's always a waiting game.

i gotta say, when you join the reserves you kinda sign up for that? that school money doesn't get to you with no strings attached dude!

You know you're desperate for info when you come to NT for military info haha. Look at all the comedians :)

that really sucks man, I bet atomica's tune would change a bit if they reinstated the draft.

what tfsmag said
- Krimzen0
Yeah and the money wasn't even that good.
- tfsmag0
well i wasn't trying to be funny... i'm serious with my reply.
hindsight is always 20/20 though. it sucks :(

If Bushs wins, your country will be in deep crapola.
Get yourself some nice looooong vacations elsewhere.
You think that the majority of young man in Iraq intended to be in that situation?
Man. the only university some will attend is that big one in the sky....
For what? The country? No.
For a lie.

This is quite funny... I don't wanna upset anyone but what else did you expect?
You really only have yourself to blame if you don't want this...
Having said that - move to Canada and claim asylum. It has been done during this war.
- ********0
Sorry to hear that, forgive me for being a bit on the sceptical side though....
If you don't want to go to war why join the reservists?
Reservists are like the TA in UK, right?
Or is there something I am not understanding here?
- Krimzen0
No offense taken, the typical responses are always:
A:) You got yourself into this.
or
B:) Move to X country, I heard a friend of friend of a friend did this.So I'm used to it ;)
Trust me I know I got myself into this, I kick my arse about it everytime the army pops back into my life. If I have to go, I'll go, I just wish I knew if I did or didn't as the waiting sucks.

When you originally signed up did you remember to tick the box that said 'Only available for nice wars that we can win'? Daft eh.
- Krimzen0
Sorry missed that box ;)

i imagine the waiting is a pain in the ass. give the guy a break, imagine not knowing when you might have to spend 5 years in baghdad

Don't do it. I was listening to Air America Radio yesterday and Randi Rhodes was telling guys to not go. Just say you're gay. I guess you're asked like 3x if you are gay or will refrain from homosexual activity...say no, I can't promise and they'll send your gay ass home.

atomica,
what cause are we talking about here?
this is a dirty dirty dirty war.anyways krimzedn i am sorry man. good luck
- dstlb0
How come you don't want to register as a contentious objector?

there's no way on gods green earth which i share with friends and family can i understand why a man would offer to go and shoot people on behalf of their country. not unless they were disembarking from boats at dover right this minute could i understand...
- monkeyshine0
and I take offense to those of you who are saying he got what he signed up for. The people who have signed up put their trust in our country's leadership. The current (lack of) leadership has totally let them down.
Don't blame anyone for not wanting to fight an unjust war.
- zedvox0
i agree monkeyshine.
