three things:
1. If the US is "fighting for democracy" then they have to respect the 90 percent of spainiards that want out of Iraq.
2. terrorism is a tactic, not an entity. a "war on terror" is a non-sequitur. what they really mean (but are unwilling to come out and say) is a "war on islamic fundamentalists who use terrorism".
3. Of course terrorism works. how can anyone dispute that? so do guns, missles, blackmail, assasination, etc.
the very fact that we're even discussing it (on a message board for designers!) is proof. here's a statistic: annual international fatalities by terrorism: about 2,000average international fatalities from traffic collisions: about 3,500,000
we're not discussing the "war on drunk driving" or the "evil stop-sign runners" are we? even though THEY'RE 200 TIMES MORE DEADLY...
I'm not saying it's not an issue of importance, I'm just saying that fighting "terrorism" is an unachievable goal, we should be fighting a "war on whatever the fuck it is that makes young disenfranchised muslims want to kill westerners".

Our government´s (Spain) decision to join an illegal, fraudulent, coward occupation of a country to rob their petrol went against 90% of Spain´s opinion. Tired of the Popular Party´s fascist attitudes and attempt to manipulate truth, we voted them out. Now we´re doing what we had said in the first place: we have no business in Iraq. And we´ve go the balls to stand by our decision and not be bullied by the rest.

What amazes me most is Americans inability to show empathy. I would guess that 80% of American don't even know that there are countries that exist where the Police are not armed. The 'american' attitude that the French are pussies makes me ill as well. This whole war is shrouded in lies. What the hell is going on over there anyways? I would guess that Bush is biding his time until elections. Our news tells us nothing. I have to watch BBC news (which I love) to get any REAL news.
Ultimately, Americans freedom has not been threatened. It never has. So people need to get over this idea that there are religious fundementalists at the borders about to overthrow this government. Sorry, but the US spends more in defense than all of Europe combined I would imagine.
