D, I go through this dilemma quite a lot. People occasionally say to me "Have you a shop?" and I reply that I don't but that I would be interested to know what, out of the huge range of things I do, people would be interested in buying. After I ask that, the conversation goes dead and I never ever find out what it is that people might want.
Occasionally I do stick something on my site and think that if I can sell just one thing once I will start thinking about it in earnest. I'll stick something up there, and try to let people know, and nothing ever happens. So to me it seems like I would most likely invest loads of time and money in producing 100 prints of something and then they'd just sit here unsold getting under my feet.
Its something I would do if I could just figure out what would sell.

or actually Horbit; you know what I've thought for a while was due a comeback and a new slant on it? do you remember back in the 80's those sci fi hyper sexual airbrush images, kind of like Kubrick's AI, or Tron-esque or something? I think you'd make a killing at that stuff if you've got the necessary skills, do you? even know what I mean?

But the thing is, I do do that stuff you are saying. I've been doing hand drawn and bespoke display lettering since 1993. That ribbon piece was all over Boots stuff for Xmas 07 (or 08 can't remember) and that piece you picked out Josh was in Computer Arts. But unlike everyone else on the planet it never seems to lead to a succession of commissions, they each exist as incidental pieces spread out over the years.
Its like I have a curse on me or something. I remain utterly invisible at all times. I do something and it goes un-noticed and then two years later someone else does something similar and everyone goes fucking crazy for it.
I think the problem is that I don't consistently just do one thing over and over again, so the things I do are diluted amongst everything else on my site. I could probably just have a site where I got all my bespoke type stuff together and nothing else and hammer it like a cunt.
Can't be arsed though to be honest.

Hahahah where the hell did you find that Josh? God I have no idea what's on my own website. That was an idea for a sleeve art that I thought I'd really like to paint as a big 6ft square enamel painting if the record label went for it (they didn't though, and in fairness it wasn't what they were looking for I just hoped to pursuade them).
