well tom, i only read marvel books. i dont touch dc books ever as their stories are always the same... a crisis, a new universe, and anti universe blah. but each to their own. if you some favs, i can easily pick em up for you, as i am in the stores every few days.
maybe make a list. not sure what you like or dont like.

if you are a marvel fan i recommend any of the ultimate universe collected books. since the continuity of the ultimate universe is ending in 3 months, the collected editions are good to get now.
ultimate spider-man going on 9 years now, is one of the best re-tellings of a new spider-man with new origins. i like it a lot.

you can also check thru the marvel solicitaions for books shipping for the next 5-7 months and see which books not out yet you may want to start reading and start from there instead of trying to go back aand read the previous continuity and catch up per say.
im loving new avengers now more than ever. the little banter between luke cage, spider-man and wolverine just cracks me up.
they make jokes when they fight and when they are just hanging out together watching tv.maybe the powers that be will have a love affair between ms. marvel and spider-man. that would be hot.

And I can imagine that you don't buy the latest, but one of the early ones, so you know the complete story..no?

a year or two back i decided to sell my comics. However there was only one shop within 50 miles that sold or bought comics. It was Nov when i dropped them off, thinking i could get some extra money for Christmas gifts. The owner, who i came to find out had MAJOR motivation problems due to depression, took A YEAR to go thru them all and give me a price. A fricking nightmare, it was.

the best way to get rid of your books is to goto your local shop and just watch who are the customers who shop like 30+ books per week.
its those consumers you should try to sell your books to not the retailers.
