Emu, Just went home for lunch and your film arrived today. I look forward to watching it hopefully tonight, but certainly this week. Book looks great. I was on the verge of handing it to my daughter who really wanted to see it, and then it fell open on the page with the noose and I found myself explaining to a 2.5 year old that a book filled of colourful drawings of cartoon bears was "not for children".

Im now kind of worried about the book submission thingy. I thought it were going to be along the lines of the sketchbook thingummy that was doing the rounds. Now Im thinking of what the fuck to put into it. Existing designs or new stuff, big spread type thing or thumbnails of work. Ah crapweasel.

Anybody got any good advice about how I stop using my G5 and set up my new mac? I have only one monitor. I can forsee a constant need to keep switching back to the old hardware just to get a bloody access code or something.
God, I really hate upgrading.

I might just buy a cheap monitor for the swap over period.Horp - get yourself a cheap ethernet hub and hook up the g5 to it, you can then just access all of its bits from your new mac.ian

Rasko, it seems like Migration Assistant is the answer to my prayers, thanks. Have you (or anyone else) ever done it that way?
I'm wondering if I get the chance to be selective about what it copies. I don't want to copy all my old 2mp iphoto shots over for example, not any software that may or may not be considered 'cracked', but I would want to save myself the offort of re-setting the wirless access, my email accounts... stuff like that.

Spooky, how about this? If you're looking for something needlessly complex of course.
The steps in doing this from Leopard to Tiger are more or less these:
1. Turn on "Apple Remote Desktop" in the Sharing tab of System Preferences. Click the "Access Privileges.." button and in the list "Allow user to do the following on this computer..." turn on all the rights you wish to give this user. After you have made your choices click OK.
2. Under the "Access Privileges..." button you now see: "Others can manage your computer using the address x.x.x.x". Use this address to contact the computer if Bonjour doesn't detect it.
3. On a Mac running Leopard you will now see the Tiger-Mac in the Shared section of the sidebar of any Finder window. Choose it and click Share Screen to log in using the account name and password of the user to whom you earlier gave the right to control the Tiger Mac.
Like magic you will now see the screen of the other Mac in a window on your screen. And you can use it like sitting in front of it.This is in Leopard called "Instant screen sharing from the Finder". Click "Finder" in the list, if that's not what is displayed.
- This is to control one mac from another one, no copying of files etc needed.ian

I'm going to do a 2nd page on my site which will be a massive "site map" which describes all the various parts of my life; work, places, people, social stuff, pubs, footy etc etc and I want to have child nodes off QBN with links to peoples websites but space will be finite on the page and I'm in a quandary about who to include and under what criteria they are chosen. Maybe you could all get naked and I'll link to you on the quality of your body hair or lack thereof. what do you reckon?
