I'd back Boston too. My mom/stepdad lived there for 6 1/2 years when I was younger. New England is beautiful, I've seen so much up there when I was there for summers and certain weeks to see them.
Cape Cod...I really miss it. We'd go camping every summer at Nickerson State Park (I think) and snorkel in the crystal clear ponds, snorkel in the bay, go fishing, go out to the tip of the cape, it was the best. Martha's Vinyard was nice as well.
Boston is a good sized city, big, but it has alot of charm that some smaller cities have. Very popular with tourists, of course.
If you can handle a long cold winter, Chicago is a great place. The summer here hasn't been too hot, and there are parks, the lake (Lake Michigan), beaches, museums, great architecture, mediocre sports teams, good public transportation (subway and bus).
I've been here almost two years and couldn't be happier.

Check out Seattle. It's magical. Boston is a cool city to visit but its expensive, kinda conservative, provencial.

I've got a friend near Chicago, she lives in a place called Elburn!?!? Pretty sad really as we met on the net about 10yrs ago and we've been writing to eachother since. Were planning to meet up for the first time next year. Talk about sh*tting it. But I can imagine I'll really like it there!!

you should probably respect all countries and capatalize the letters of it's abbreviation, especially if you ar going to ask for advice from Yanks themselves. There are about 40 nice cities you could move into, depends on what you are into, that question is somewhat vague, no offense. ;)

Seriously... dont leave out Portland Oregon.......
There is a reason it was rated number 1 or 2 as most desired city to live in...

i would suggest you take a long holiday and visit some major east coast and west coast cities. try not to spend too much time socializing with internet people you might know around each palce and rather go out and really explore each neighborhood or area you might be interested.. visit the local bars and clubs, look at apartments.. do a lot of strolling around. talk to people everywhere. get their opinions on why they like or dont like being there. try the sanfran, LA, Seattle at least on the west coast.. some would say chicago would be a good place to visit... and the east coast.. boston, NY, PA...
dont take anyone's word for it. you just have to experiece these cities for yourself.
for instance. I would tell you I hate NYC and San Fransico.. I think they suck. But I love LA. Some people are completely opposite. It really depends on your personality.

woot woot Portland coming through!

Chicago!
But don't eat their 'famous' deep pan pizza!
There's a reason why they call it the 'Windy City'!

jazX i cant believe you suggested Cleveland.
save, dont move to cleveland. its hot and muggy and there is NO SCENE there. trust me. I lived there and I have family there.. so I could say with experience its not where you want to be. Not only that but there still is a good amount of racisim going on there.. and whitiephobia with the black folks there (im black). And, Most parts of the actual city of cleveland is run down and a mess.

cleveland and la = polar opposites, but two floors of the same Hell.

- shellie0

shellie, I was just listing major cities of the top of my head, I forgot ones like DC etc., but you have to admit that if you are visiting any one of those cities you can for sure have fun for at least a week. Cleveland is much like Pittsburgh, have fun for a week and then you have to leave hee hee ;)

couldn't they think of a better name for that place?
