I got vaxxed on Saturday. A strangely emotional moment. Went to a community center in bed stuy, a neighborhood I've barely left since this started. They made it nice, everyone welcoming people in. It was like a celebration, and a really good atmosphere.

I had the shot and then sat for the 15 minutes observation listening to some music, becoming more and more overwhelmed by emotions reflecting on the last 12 months.

It's been a rollercoaster. Stressful to be working, stressful to think about the alternative. Both of us trying to save our jobs and educate the kids at the same time the world is falling apart. My mum had a nervous breakdown mid-April and i could not get back to help her, and i was wondering if that was the last I'd see of the person I knew. Our nanny came back in May which made it easier but it meant 3 hours of driving per day to pick her up, but we could not have carried on without her. Then my wife lost her job, so everything got tighter. Kids went back to school for a few weeks then went in and out of remote school which is confusing for them. They're in the classroom in masks all day and being tested once a week. Then there's the fatigue of being plugged into Zoom 10 hours a day to stay employed. There's such a cost to all this.

So yeah I did shed a tear. It's been fucking tough. But if this vaccine gets us closer to what life used to look like then stick it in my arm.

    • That’s a rough time. Have kids too so understand a bit. Better times ahead no doubt.mort_

    • You managed to keep it all together in the past months, which is a very important thing. Took the first step to get back your life close to where it wassted
    • ,did everything you could to get through this period, so it’s perfectly normal to feel the need to vent. All the best to you, it can only get better from here.sted
