I really dont know much about SW. I know Yoda is dead and wont be in this movie, but are there others that are like Yoda, like others in whatever race he is?

Personally, I assume Snoke is the love child between Jabba the Hut and his concubine Oola, whom he fed to the Rancor when he found out she was pregnant (as seen in RotJ). Not killed, but damaged by the Rancor attack, the child survives and is raised by Salacious B. Crumb who escaped the barge before it was destroyed (you know, the part where Luke murdered all sorts of people unnecessarily by blowing it up).
He wants revenge on Luke, Han and Leia for the events that led to Jabba's death, despite Jabba turning on his mother, so he started by turning Kylo.

Mine is terrible, but makes more sense then half of the ones flying around the 'Net.

And the best news all year, as far as this film goes, is:

"Only Vader can’t bombard the base: He’s in it. For reasons that never get explained — and can’t be justified militarily — Vader joins the Stormtrooper assault on the base. So much for his major weapon against the Rebels, and the primary reason for ordering the Walkers to invade and destroy the generator. Once Vader opts to bring down the shield and lead the invasion, he’s lost the battle."
these guys don't know what they are talking about. The reason Vader didn't want to completely destroy the base AND went inside was that he was looking for Luke. He was looking for Luke for years. Mara uncovered records that showed Vader had been scouring the universe for his son. After the Rebels fled Pol minor for Hoth, Vader received intel from Thrawn stating that is where their next makeshift base would be.

I have a feeling this is going to look exactly like those 2 recent star trek movies he did, but with light sabers in them.
Really odd that they chose the same guy that rebooted star trek. Are they purposely trying to blur the lines between the 2 even further by having the same guy make all of them?
- JJ Abrams' single goal here is to satisfy the hardcore fans. This is not a reboot.monospaced

... aaaaand the plot leak:
- "suggested that Abrams is locked in a battle with studio Disney over key issues." ... i'd like to know more about this / this worries meBluejam

I do find it funny though that as good as this movie looks like it could be, JJ is only doing this one. They have a different director for 8 and 9. It kinda mirrors the original trilogy.
Lucas only directed the first one. Ill bet right after JJ finishes this he'll be right on Star Trek 3. But knowing how much he loves star wars you would think he would want to direct the entire trilogy. Wonder why he bailed on that.

niko – I really didn't like Abrams' Trek reboots, no.
- fair enough, the originals were so good that the reboot wasn't really necessary._niko
- as far as star wars go, we're sort of hoping they redeem themselves and right the ship after the ep 123 travesty_niko
- but no one is really pulling for disney's money making machine, the original came from nowhere, it was a labour of love._niko
- ..love, this is nothing but a cash grab._niko
