Never been that big on Porsches but earlier this week I learned of the 356 model and this one is probably one of the best out there ... an FIA specification model!
This isn't just "Car of the Day"!
=== FOR SALE ===
1953 Porsche 356
FIA-spec pre-AA fast road/race FIA-spec 1953 Porsche 356 pre-A fully restored by Roger Bray and team with a fresh engine and gearbox by Andy Prill and colleagues. Initially supplied by Sonauto, the car came to the UK from long-term ownership in the US five years ago. It has been painted in its original fish silver-grey and fitted with aluminium bonnet and boot lids. It has an overhauled steering box, suspension and brakes, with wider GT-type drums on the front, a new loom and electrics and perspex side and rear windows. Inside, there is a half cage, a red works-type steering wheel and a pair of speedster seats with harnesses.
The engine has a billet crank and high compression pistons together with race-spec rods and cam and is fitted with twin double choke Solex carburettors. The gearbox has slightly shorter third and fourth gears and a period-type limited slip differential. The car was completed last summer and, after being displayed at Hedingham Castle, made a faultless racing debut at the Goodwood Revival. More recently it took part in the recreation of the first ever historic sports car race in the UK. It is equally at home on the road and comes with full UK-issued FIA papers and a spares package.

I posted about the new Prius before. Who on Earth is going to buy this atrocity? How can something so ugly be created? How does it go through all of the levels of approval without somebody speaking up and saying "WE CAN'T MAKE THIS UGLY THING!!"?? It literally angers me to look at it. I hope nobody buys it, or else I will get road rage and crash into it.
- I am a proud owner of a Fiat Multipla... A beauty compared this thing!!OBBTKN
- design by committee?dorf
- the Prius has always been a weird car, they pushed it further in that direction. I suppose it all function to achieve less drag hence better mpgelektro
- That can't be for aerodynamics, that's gotta just be bad design, no need for all those ugly scoops and creases.formed
- of course they need air intakes to cool the brakes during hard stops, just like a real sports car, because prius' are regularly driven at 150MPH+ on tracksmonospaced
- and don't forget about reducing drag, you have no idea how much that can affect your MPG when you are drag racing to the whole foods.monospaced
- am not a car engineer, just supposing things lol. yes the car is ugly, there must be a reason other than they dropped the ball.. look at their hydrogen car..elektro
- not all markets demand a car that makes the owner look like a rich man who could own the world, if he just wanted.mekk
