BMW RECREATES 1970 CONCEPT CAR: THE GARMISCH
'This glorious vehicle has been recreated, partly because the original vanished after it was unveiled, some 49 years ago. The car was intended to go straight to BMW headquarters in Munich after the Geneva Auto Show, but it didn’t make it and nobody (not Gandini nor anybody else working for BMW at the time) knows where it went—or who took it'
- Has a bit of a Ferrari 365 GT4 feel about it. I like it tho...see_thru
- fugly on the outside but kinda good looking insidepr2
- I never thought much of gandini. And this pos confirms that opinionhans_glib

- I guess it's just a rebadged BMW Z4 with a hard top. LAME.
https://www.youtube.…fooler - ^ It's not rebadged, they developed the platform together and the engine is from BMW because who else builds inline-6's anymore.mekk
- The last time Germany and Japan collaborated it didn’t end up that great for either of them.fooler

- but these non car people who buy themselves into the classics, they are esp. after german classics and 70s pony cars.mekk

- Is this European only? I'm not seeing Japanese cars, what circuit did the Imprezas and the evos cement their legacy in?_niko
- No there was a Toyota and Suzuki I think... The cars you're thinking about are Group A, which is made up of production cars with certain specs and limitationsofakingback
- Ok thanks, this is so fascinating and tragic, looking into it a bit more_niko
- This is the rallying I remember seeing on TV as a kid - Audi's and Celica's absolutely caning it through forests and snow.face_melter

WANT.

https://www.pistonhe…sted - 90% of the fun of old cars is the noise, the vibration and the stickshift. Why would anybody want to lose this?Longcopylover
- ^ Not sure about the vibration, but certainly the sound and connection to dirvingformed
- That might be the fun for some people, for me it's a complete turn off - i care more about the form and functionality.
Noise = Inefficiencydetritus - Had a red 71 Targa in the family. Pops sold it about 5 years ago and didn't tell me until after he sold. He pretty much gave it away. :(aslip
