If these people are so much against Socialism then let them forfeit their Social Security and Medicare benefits.

With all this talk and people getting fixated on "Nazi" hasn't the real point been lost - the radical reform of the healthcare system in the USA. Obama is being slagged by trying to set up a system that can catch the 18,000 people who die because they do not have health insurance. The "Nazi" woman is basically condoning this atrocioity. Its pretty fucked up.

- This is all a part of a new reality TV show: "Obama BFF or FFS?"caput58

Here's an interesting snippet from the Independent.
The right-wing magazine US Investors' Daily claimed that if Stephen Hawking has been British, he would have been allowed to die at birth by its "socialist" healthcare system. Hawking responded with a polite cough that he is British and "I wouldn't be here without the NHS"......
- lol and ddint he develop it when he was 21 ?

@ blackisle,
Stilus pretty much lost the plot on this one.

I'm from Norway and I look upon healthcare the same way I look upon the education system, the police and the fire department - as someting fundamental that all societies should have.
I realize there are challenges in implementing healthcare in a contry the size of the US, let alone without money..but I can't understand how some people would want to be against it...who are these people? Who in the right mind would want to pay $8000 for two hours at the doctor?
- < Nazi!schjetne
- I guess I had that coming ;)inv
- Don't worry, I enjoy free Norwegian healthcare too, so we're National Socialist brethren, I guess.schjetne
- WE Americans absolutely WANT good affordable health care. Key word: "GOOD"THA
- What Obama is proposing is as far from GOOD health care as you can get.THA
- It's not the right solution. It's a shame we can't get a functional health care system like in countries such as Sweden or Norway.THA
- I'm in the Norwegian health care system also. It is brilliant. I was thinking the same as inv.Blyant

ooh, look i can link to the wikipedia definition of a Nazi. It says National Socialism.
And Fox News told me Obama is socialism.
Therefore Obama is a Nazi.
- Why does half of this country have to be sooo f*ckin dumb?ukit
- Israel has national healthcare. Nationalized healthcare = Nazi, therefore..Israel is a Nazi country. See, plain as day.TheBlueOne

"Nazi" can mean whatever you want it to mean, or nothing at all."
-styleplus-amillionWow. Could you be more intellectually bankrupt or dishonest? I'm glad you read some books, obviously none of it stuck.
Nazi cannot mean "whatever", but go on being yet another deluded american. And amazingly you think you're pretty sharp yet you think "Nazi" can be defined anyway you want. Fucking stunning.
- c'mon. you and I both know that this out of the intended context. I won't even be vulgar with you.styleplus_amillion
- Fucking stunning indeed. well put.Shaney

Both sides are just preaching to the choir. I would prefer to see any Dem or Independent in favor of Healthcare reform all over Fox news. It would most likely help Fox news rating but they need to start winning this message war on the conservative side.
It's time for the Dems to do this alone and forget bipartisanship. There is no civil discourse from the opposition. Just distortions, propaganda and a say anything attitude to circumvent the democratically elected president of the US. There's no reasoning with these people and the only power they have is to scream as loud as they can.
As much as I disagreed with his policies, I give former President Bush credit for pushing through his goals, regardless of the opposition. As Dick Army put it, "to the winners go the spoils"...

You know, everyone might be afraid of a national healthcare regiment, but when was cheaper healthcare ever a bad thing, and why does it mean that people will be subject to some sort of eugenics board who judge weather they live or die?
I have been to Canada, Costa Rica, & Italy multiple times and had to go to the emergency room. How happy do you think I was when I found out my visit not only substantually took care of my problem, but only cost about 30 dollars US. (in italy, paying is optional)
So seriously this is all bullshit. A national healthcare bill would be fucking great! Especially if using it is your own personal choice.
- And this is an extremely watered down version of that being discussed hereukit

You know who was actually close with the Nazis? George Bush's grandfather.
Nazis --> George Bush's Grandfather --> George Bush --> Republican Party --> Tea Parties --> styleplus
styleplus is a f*cking Nazi!!!
- vaxorcist0
my hope is that Obama's side is able to wait till the FOXnews Party of idiots completely discredits themselves, then the forces of reason and thought can actually have a bill passed without having to resort to attempted bipartisanship with a bunch of freaks who oppose everything...
- That'd be nice, but I don't think history is on our side on that one.harlequino
- Yeah, I think idiocy only scales up over time.TheBlueOne

The real problem is that the rich, and not even what you think of as rich but the ultra rich, just have way too much power in this country.
You've got people like the Koch family and the Scaife family who are your archetypal cigar chewing old white men billionaires and have funded the Republican party for years.
Whenever anything close to a liberal government comes to power in America, they try to crush it. These guys are the ones who fund these groups (tea parties etc) with the help of the Republicans.
Then add to that in this case the heads of health care companies who stand to lose millions in profits if reform goes through.
Basically it's the ultra rich shitting on everyone else just to squeeze a few billion more in profits.
The brilliant part is they convince people like styleplus that he is somehow being original.

Curious. Is there anyone in this thread who opposes health care reform? I don't get it. Is any of the talk about reform more scary than the reality that insurance companies have the power to turn down a life saving procedure? And have. Many times.
How many people without financial resources have died at the pen of an insurance company? Not to add to the inflammatory tone, but that sounds closer to me to this "death panel" than anything I'm hearing about reform.
I have never understood why the power and greed of insurance companies wasn't enough to send people to the streets. What am I missing here?

I know people's memories are short - and AGAIN not defending the prick - but this is not JUST a republican thing... There's no room for this shit on either side, as the opposite side will just use it to damn the other and avoid debate on the real issues...
