Universal health care is the bomb. Come ask Canadians. Sure, sometimes wait times are long, but knowing you don't have to sell your car or home to get medical attention is beautiful.
Why are so many Americans opposed to something that very clearly is in their best interest?
- TheBlueOne0
Why does this thread title read "Nazi GREATER THAN Healthcare" anyway? I mean, what the hell does that mean?
- MrDinky0
^ my father died because of wait and lack of service

This is actually the best defense of health care reform I have heard yet. Worth a watch:

insurance companies don't hire doctors or equipment.
hospitals are built on the municipal level with bonds..
the argument about more $$ = better docs and equipment has nothing to do with insurance coverage.
- monkeyshine0
grr...sorry

Dinky, doesn't South Korea have mandatory universal health coverage?
- TheBlueOne0
What value do Insurance companies provide to actual health? I mean, they act as a middle man, scrape off profits, underserve the segment of the market that most need their services, add layers of paperwork to hospitals & doctors, and get rid of longterm paying customers when they no longer can make a profit on their policies according to whatever arcane math models their bean counters come up with.
- and DRs are pissed that insurance companies override their medical decisions. Why aren't they more vocal?monkeyshine
- I feel threatened by your intelligence.Gucci
- MrDinky0
I am sending my mom to Korea for check up. Canadian insurance don't cover / offer comprehensive check up.
- ukit0
Canadian model isn't at all what is being proposed
- MrDinky0
In Korea, there is a big medical boom where people from countries with universal health care come to korea for check up and procedure. There are so many canadians going to Korea that, they have special flight discounts in conjunction with medical check up.

one of the big reasons insurance premiums are so high for doctors - which translate to bigger bills for YOUR insurance, which gets dropped off on you, the consumer, is the OUTRAGEOUS legal cases that go down here in the states... TORT reform is something we should take a look at as well...

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/a…
"One of the reasons why the public appears so wary about Obama’s health-care plans is due to all the misinformation out there. Majorities in the poll believe the plans would give health insurance coverage to illegal immigrants (55%), would lead to a government takeover of the health system (54%), and would use taxpayer dollars to pay for women to have abortions (50%) -- all claims that nonpartisan fact-checkers say are untrue about the legislation that has emerged so far from Congress. Additionally, 45% think the reform proposals would allow the government to make decisions about when to stop providing medical care for the elderly, which also isn’t true."
- I'm baffled anyone would want to keep the private sector deciding when to stop dispensing health care =)zarkonite
- fox news are also out of their mind!akrokdesign
- MrDinky0
Fok insurance. I stopped using my insurance for good doctors. I just pay out of my pocket.

can someone explain to me, why lowering costs of healthcare and making it available to more people is compared the the holocaust?
- its a contentious stupid thing to say but the Nazi's were more than the holocaust.lazerbass
- its not - everyone on BOTH sides of this argument concedes that woman is out of her fucking mindidentity
- she is. There's no comparison obviously but still Nazi's had a lot of dubious policies, very similar to the USAlazerbass
- zarkonite0
What a lot of you fail to see is that healthcare is dispensed in three levels. Primary Care is the most important one, it's where PREVENTION happens. With a private healthcare system this type of thing runs contrary to their business model, in the long run it is much much more costly to fix people than to prevent sickness. A government backed healthcare system puts more effort in the first lines of care instead. It also acts as an incentive for people to go see a doctor more often for smaller problems if there is no upfront cost.
As a business model, given that the money comes from your own pockets either way, you're better off giving your money to an agency that wants to prevent disease than another one that makes more cash with big operations.

and where were all these people comparing Obama to hitler during the 8 years of the bush regime?
have these people been brainwashed or what? the US hit an all time low during those years, this guy has an INCREDIBLE task ahead of him, I mean INCREDIBLE... and people still find time to bash him like he was worst than bush...
- MrDinky0
I dont understand where all this money is coming from. Starting with Bush, war / stimulus package / bail out and now with additional bail out ($4500 car credit ??? WTF) and now this.
Who is going to pay for all this? Everyone preaching fiscal responsibility but who is going to bail out the US gov?
- The Federal Reserve is. In fact, they essentially already have.designbot
- China will, they are ready own the U.S.utopian
- Nothing like a private company printing off American Dollars....and literally making loads of money off it!designbot
- I don't see why we should have to pay for anything unless there's a public option.IRNlun6
- lower costs for consumers would surely result in increased income tax revenue over time thoughspifflink

The funny thing is that it's mostly the Republicans who got us in debt.
Then they turn around and set up tea parties where people get angry at the government spending too much.
End result: Republicans get reelected and spend more.
- Ukit with all do respect you can't just lump everyone involved under your definition of "conservative"designbot
- or sorry "republican" there were lots of independents/constit... involved.designbot
- I am not lumping, just saying, don't reelect the Republicansukit
- I am more a free market guy, apparently I am a republican.MrDinky
- what the? got cut off.
Libertarians, Constitutionalists etc.designbot
