^ then the bible means nothing.
there is no interpertation here. the kingdom of god refers plainly to the end of the kingdom of man.
simple as that.
fundies CHOOSE to interpret it otherwise because it is too emotionaly devistating to accept Christ was as false as any other prophet.

(Aug 30 07, 07:21)Sorry lemmy, I don't see it as simple as that. Many times in the Bible, Jesus is referred to as King. His arrival is referenced as his kingdom coming to this earth. His kingdom is referred to as his work being done on earth.
So, no, it's not really that simple, and I'm really not twisting things around to make things work.
Is it easy to look at it, assume what it means, and discredit the Bible? Sure, but look a little deeper.
Just because there are many opinions, doesn't mean that there is no truth. Ultimately, there is one right interpretation, there is just a lot of debate as to what the correct interpretation is.
You can't throw out a plethora of prophecies that line up from the OT with one uninformed interpretation of the Bible.

You cannot see wind, or gravity but you can see it's affects.
Isn't nature itself extraordinary proof?
Concrete

(Aug 30 07, 10:39)Oh, I didn't know... I guess that is settled then.
- TheBlueOne0
yup.
I mean how many "prophecies" are there right now in the world? I can think of a whole bunch pending in all the major religions - christianity, judaism, islam, buddhism...so what's the deal? Only some of them going to come true? All of them?
Oh wait..let me guess..only the christian ones count, right?
All those ancient mayan, greek, babylonian, egytptian et. al. prophecies did lots of good too..I mean it was like Reality TV for the pre-industrial revolutionary set...

Creationists don't believe that people saddled up dinosaurs. So, either it's not in the museum, or it's just some prop for cranky kids to play on.

and rember the bible advoctes slavery, false prophecy, and a host of other nasties...
this is why the more secular a democracy is, the less it murders, rapes and aborts.
