I didn't want to do this but I am going to take this public in hopes that him and my fellow NTers learn a lesson. Do not work for Joshua Smith (aka Hydro74.com). Here's an exerpt of my last email to him and his wife (who seems to act as his secretary):
"This is outrageous. All these emails trying to get in touch with you guys to get a little payment is wasting too much of my time. How can I even trust you to tell me whether or not Burton bought my designs if you can't even handle sending me a check after 2 months and 7 emails reminding you to? I will never work for you again, that's for sure."
Yes he did tell me that he loved the designs and sent them to Burton. He even told me that I could ask him for work any time and that he'd send me a bunch of free stuff because "his office is full of it".
He is self-centered, fraudulent, disrespectful, and irresponsible.

haven't we been throught this before?

I have experienced something similar too with Josh. I haven't actually worked for him but he once agreed to help me with an interview and never followed through. I spoke with him on the phone and he seemed very low key offering me gifts and a bunch of free stuff. Not like I care that much about free stuff but it is just a let down to say these things and never actually do them.
I'm not trying to initiate any disrespect to Josh or contribute to a hate thread but hopefully by making this public you will get paid for the work you've done Jesse. It is a bummer that Josh, a peer in the industry, would handle things so unprofessionally.

yo... air out your emotional shit here... call each other names over political bullshit...
... but stuff like this could and quite possibly is a legal matter...
... probably not a good idea to be specific about who you're having professional issues with...
...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 'not cool'...
Get an attorney if you're having issues... at least that's the advice I'd give if you were ASKING GENERIC ADVICE...
... instead you seem to think you're doing a public service by calling someone out on a forum because you're pissed you're not getting paid.
I've had issues w/fellow NT'ers (more than once) regarding business/money - I may even complain here on NT about 'clients not paying'... but calling out those NT'ers on business related issues could actually come back to haunt you legally...
... so... i dunno... sorry you're having issues w/'a client'... but uh... yeah - I've said enough.

I know ponyboy, I don't want to sound like I am doing this just out of hate and want him to look bad - I could've done that a long time ago... the money is no where near enough to hire a lawyer and take legal action. I just figured this would be the best way to get his act together because I know his ego wouldn't want people to know what he is doing.

i am waiting about 3 or 4 months for money from major agencies.
and, what pony boy said. NOT professional buddy...
- Hewmiri0
who's not professional here?
you've been waiting for 3 or 4 months? you think that's normal? ok. but I don't think it is, so I'm doing something about it. I did agree with ponyboy to an extent and replied to him. did you read it? if you did, why are you trying to repeat him.

this guy is a obviously a hack

as far as i can say is, big companies don't pay as fast as they should. what i can do is calling them and send 'em rominders, each tome 2.5% + on the invoice. sorry, don't want to offend you.
i only don't agree in washing business-problems in public. there are a lot of people here who read that who couuld give you some work to do.
- Bluejam0
a statutory demand is all you need, not a public 'tar & feathering'

2 months does not seem excessive to wait for payment from a client. Sure its a kicker if youre freelance and need the cash but as pascii said, a lot of companies dont send out cheques as soon as they get an invoice. 6 months could be more like it.
Its crap and its not fair but thems the breaks chief and airing your griefs, while completely understandable, is also quite unprofessional. The small claims court is the place for these matters. Also, I dont wanna seem like Im on his side, Im sorry you got messed around.

(May 14 07, 02:04)for instance.
coca cola will pay your invoices a year after date. cause you first have to send a form that they agree you can bill them..;creezie stuff..i wonder how money they make on the intrest rates..cause they do this worldwide...

He's not a big company though... and although I can see on one hand, this isn't the most professional way to go about the situation, if it's a smaller sum of money and the guy needs paying, what else are you to do?
- Bluejam0
what else are you to do?

- cacoe0
ok, its not. nice work Hewmiri btw...

ok, i guess i'm 'kinda' guilty of this too but
why do people do the work w/o getting paid first?
that is an ultimate no no, so now you face consequences.
- cacoe0
i thought that more often than not, people are payed after completing work?
