In regard to the money, it isn't the main aspect of this thread. Nonetheless, I think the industry is becoming more and more competitive. People working for peanuts as we're very global and wages vary country to country. I also see many designers almost offering to work for free for big firms, and I do not get it totally because that is contributing to how businesses are dealt with in the future. This, becoming a problem for anyone to make a decent living and getting what they are worth.
If the money is peanuts or not, I believe each person has a choice. We all need to make money, but if it isn't right for you than do not accept. Hydro74 isn't obligating you to work on those terms. So those are my thoughts. If less people work for that amount, than the firms and clients will have to agree on other terms...maybe more equal and favorable to both parties.
That is my two cents. I know when I saw the amount I nearly flipped too :) But it is besides the issue.

never do spec work for any reason ever, unless you aren't concerned about being able to support yourself and possibly a family.
Even then, anal bleaching could be a more promising career move.

Hewmiri, I cant understand why you sent him 7 emails. Pick up the phone next time you lazy cunt. I've been in a similar situation with 2 contracts recently. I send an email in the morning, If I've got no reply by the afternoon, I phone them up. I then receive an email 30 minutes later apologising for the delay and the money has been wired to my account or a cheque's in the post.

i guess it's fine to vent about a client on a forum using general terms, but naming names like that was in very poor taste.
i've waited 60-90 days for invoices to get paid. it says 30 on my contracts, but that's just the way things go sometimes. if it had been 6 months i might understand somewhat, but i still wouldn't call someone out by name like that.

the more professional you are the longer clients take to pay you

... the money is no where near enough to hire a lawyer and take legal action.

When I managed a company owned by a banker the best lesson he taught me was to ask the client you are soliciting to state their payment terms in writing before any busines is done. This being done you are never uncomfortable demanding payment. Doing such in a public forum shows a faulty process!

alright, enough piling on the guy, this is how you learn how to get paid on your terms rather than the client's, he knows better now.
Now back to this:
the more professional you are the longer clients take to pay you
