never do spec work for any reason ever, unless you aren't concerned about being able to support yourself and possibly a family.
Even then, anal bleaching could be a more promising career move.

Ive gotten fucked before, but never turned around and fucked them back over the internet, thats a bitch move, just learn your lesson like I did, contract it all, you have good work, dont lose future work with good clients over him being like most designers in general, impossible to rely on(time wise) if you need some loot, just whore yourself out man.....your welcome

Just to clear the air. Jesse is a great designer, i do think highly of him and his talents.
the project was spec work. anyone knows that you don't get paid to pitch. This season, i invited a few freelancers in so that if their work was selected, i would directly hook them up with the client after this season. It's my way of trying to at least give back to people i believe in, as well as trying to give the client fresh ideas.
I paid him $25 for each comp (up to 4) then if any pieces were selected, i would add another 275 per each piece. So this is about $100 bucks. no pieces were selected or used. he still maintains all his rights to the pieces.
If he posted his rage here or just sent me a email to let me know he hasn't gotten taken care of, i would of paid him either way.
in the end, i have no issues with Jesse. very disappointed by this approach, but he is very talented and i wish him the best.
as far as invoices, i have over $5000 out from last year that hasn't been paid. But that is my business and the clients. not public domain.

umm
you misunderstood.
i'm paying for comps. i get paid nothing until something is selected. if the client picks something up, i pay 200-300 per each piece, which is pretty standard. I take out $50 from the cost to do set ups.

ok you bascially tell freelancers to submit comp to you for a business that you are pitching...
and you pay them 200-300 per comp if it get picked by client.
take out 50 for processing..
if it doesnt get picked then you give them $25?
but arent you pitching the client?
