Being a native New Yorker I never realized that the rest of the world ate their pizza differently, except for those whacked out Euro trash bitches who eat pizza with a fork and knife. WTF was that I always thought..and then Domino comes out with this Brooklyn Style Pizza thing and now some idiot in Indiana thinks they're eating real NY style pizza? Brooklyn style pizza IS pizza you morons, not that american cheese with kethcup crapola I got served in Ohio.....fuck those dominos guys! Forgetaboutit Vinny...
:)

new york pizza is different and very nice, huge floppy slices etc.
But you haven't tasted pizza until you eat it in italy in an old, small family owned place.
A bit like the whole guiness outside of Ireland thing.

"xcept for those whacked out Euro trash bitches who eat pizza with a fork and knife."
In Italy - the place where pizza was BORN, no one eats pizza with a fork and knife. what you on about "Euro trash" we know how to eat our pizzas over here. you cut into quarters or whatever then fold the slices over like they do in that article. its not Brooklyn unique. it'll have come from pizzas roots in italy.
The sinners towards ANYTHING to do with pizzas are the americans, shoving crap american cheese on it, tomato ketchup, making deep pan nonsense (you DONT get deep pan pizzas in italy at all - they are american sacrillage) or stuffing the crusts full of cheese.
its all bastardisation of a perfect food to make the nice crisp thin (fairly) healthy foodstuf that is a 'pizza' into something deepfatfried to pander to the tastes of the evergrowing obese american.its hard to find a perfect pizza particularly if youve been to italy a lot and HAD a lot of good PROPER pizza over there. that dudes pizza in that article looks good though.
woodfired-stonebaked is defniitely the best bases.

what 23kon said.
Pizza in rural italy was peasants/workers food. Simple quick easy and not dissimilar to a cornish pasty here in the UK, the idea of which was for worker to eat something that was a meal in one object, the pastry protecting the insides from dirty hands

(Nov 9 06, 04:13)They sort of look like they were meant to be a pizza but it went horribly wrong somewhere along the line with those things.

yup, thats cos youev got old skool italian dudes like that "keeping it real" and stickign to old italian family recipies and traditions.
cant beat a good pizza!
whats the maddest topping you've had (that was tasty)?
mines was when i was about 16 i was in italy with my folks and on the menu in a pizzaria was Tuna & Bannana. weird combination maybe, but tasted awesome.
I occasionally make it myself still, just get a good margharita pizza from somewhere and put on tuna, cook then halfway through cooking cover it in sliced bannana.mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
its lunchtime!!

Tomato, mozzarella, basil.
I'll permit anchovies.
Anything else just isn't cricket.

many would claim that proper pizza can only be made in ny because of the water. there's some place in california that imports ny tap water to make their dough. i'm not too sure about this, though it is a fact that proper sourdough can only be made in the san francisco bay area because of whatever little microbe that makes it sour only appearing in that region, so anything is possible. i did, however, have the best pizza i've ever had in my entire life in some place in astoria, though i can't remember the name...

Queens Pizza is better than Brooklyn Pizza!!!
- e-pill0
the best Pizza in Astoria is from either Ginos Pizza on Broadway and 44th street or from Brick Cafe: http://www.brickcafe.com/index.h…

I eat pizza with a fork and knife ... I don't want to get my hands dirty, haha.
Plus ... Pizza ain't Pizza unless the cheese is cold on top, and left to melt.
