Brooklyn pizza or New York pizza in general is latin for "over sized". Why do you think all the men from Jersey are large///Its the pizza from the "working in the city" lunch breaks.
Might even explain the accents//Heavy sauce.

I have had legendary pizzas outside of italy and NYC had an insane broccoli, blue chesse and pine nut one in New Zealand and a damn tasty one in Ibiza right in the old town, Golden boys in SF do a damn good one plus they have a shrine set up to a grease silhouette of James Dean that appeared on a dish cloth after wiping down the bench... spooky! Though Sardinia off the coast of Italy still wins hands down those frickin pies were so big they were flopping off the plates, covered in chilli oil and you can fuggadabout the rest! Amen
