dobs, sounds like you're reffering to the douchebags who don't use a brake only because its badass.
shants/'cycling knickers' + messenger bag they don't messenger with + a giant chain belt lock

+ a hankercheif in their back pocket, and one of those super short billed biker hats.

and their all vegans, and listen to bands youve never heard of, and they all hang out at the local coffe shops

All of the bike messngers use fixed gear bikes, then again none of them wash their clothes either, must be a trend.

(Jun 14 06, 11:22)haha. this thread is hillarious.
I can't imagine a bike without brakes, relying on my legs slowing me down especially when I could simple stop within a few meters on discs.
- acescence0
why use your legs to stop when brakes will do it for you? hell, why pedal when a motor will do it for you? why drive a manual transmission car when an automatic trans will do all the work for you? why fuck your girlfriend when her dildo will do the work for you?

(Jun 14 06, 18:02)all the bike messengers here seem to hang out at dive bars and see how fucked up on cheap PBR they can get.
other than that they fit all those sterotypes to a tee!

(Jun 14 06, 18:55)lol... you took that from riding a bike to fucking his girlfriend... hahahahhahaha AWESOME!

brakeless = more fun.
by that i mean i feel more involved (and more aware) by having to pay more attention to what's in front of me. the phrase "steer instead of stop" is common advice. also, with every cable gone, brakeless bikes look sexy.

Yes, that was awesome.

Well i didnt mean my comment in a way that I thought it was stupid to ride a fixed gear bike, i just can't imagine doing it; seems like it would taking getting used to without the quick stopping power. I would definitely consider a single speed conversion on an old mtb I have to help improve my mtb riding.
I don't mean to hi-jack the thread but I figure some people may know in here; does anyone have any recommendations for a decent/afforable bike trainer, would be nice to be able to keep my cycling routine up during the off season and days when the weather is shitty.

Looks like your front wheel is over tensioned, it's dimpling the rim.
//that could be line in a porno movie.

I found this guy on ebay that took my exact baike and made it into a fixie...it sold for $450 and it's a 20 year old bike. I'm going to the bike store right now to see what I can do to make it a single speed.

Looks like a bike shop leftover. Nice tubing and lugs though.
