I outsource Software Development to Moscow, Russia. It's all about the $. Why should I pay $25/hr when I can pay someone I know $10/hr and that's a ton for them. It's the nature of the business. Think about the Chinese plasticware you use on a daily basis, it's virtually the same thing. Nothing against any home country people, just natural evolution of things. If it's cheaper then do it, however the QA is not always so great. :)

I mean it's all about your countries monetary worth. There have been times when the US Dollar, for example, was worth less than let's say the South African Rand and then work was outsourced from RSA to USA for a number of things.

Personally I love the GIF design.
Always hard to find some good GIF design.

I don't have a problem with globalization or outsourcing, but it's utter bullshit when a lot of these countries have closed markets to the US.

that's the nature of capitalism... maximizing profits at all costs... i don't see anything wrong with that...

My problem isn't that Indians are getting jobs. They are entitled to a livelihood just as much as the next guy. My problem is with the corporations which have no problem with the idea of cheap labor.
So yes, I guess my true gripe is with capitalism.

I just got off the phone... hung up with actually, a caller from India and her supervisor.
She was calling for the directory listing for our phone and I couldn't understand a damn word either of them said. They were having trouble understanding me...
I hung up out of frustration.

To hell with outsourcing.
fingercore, I agree with you.
Just furthering the conversation...
I don't have a problems with Indians getting jobs. What I do have a problem with is Indians getting jobs at the expense of AMericans being laid off so the corporation they work for can spend less on employees and a few select board members at the top of the organization can get a much fatter bonus or paycheck because they came up with such an ingenious solution as to fire their American staff and pay people thousands of miles away 1/4 of what they were paying the Americans.
It's shit and I hate it.NAFTA was such a great thing 10 years ago...And now? NAFTA is responsible for an insane amount of out of work Americans who worked in factories and had skilled jobs, but lost them to Mexicans just across the borders in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California.
My stepdad works in such an industry, ultrasonic welding, and the town in Connecticut where they were headquartered has a vacant factory, and a town on the other side of El Paso has a beautiful, modern new factory where they same things are being made by people being paid so much less.

I caught that show on Discovery about all the Indian call centers. They actually have tons of classes where they try to speak with an American dialect. It is the worlds largest democracy, and it's only a matter of time before they are a superpower.
What was interesting was the balance of the new capitalism mixing with the old traditions, kind of like how Japan is, though not as advanced. It's all moving toward a global village, it's human nature.

I saw the show also. It was very interesting to see the "English" classes; what's more is that they all had extremely white teeth.

Why blame the Indians?
Its the comapines which want to spend less money on labor and make a lot of profit.also i do not think any good client or design fim will outsource any job. Design is very much rooted in the culture we inhabit and someone sitting far away will not be able to come up with creative strategy effective for the market here.
What can happen is all the backend stuffm which has already begun but its a cycle man... most of the tech based jobs were anyways owned by indians the only difference is that the quality of life ( for the middle class in india) is getting higher day by day, so the allure of USA is fading and a lot of Indians living abroad are going back.
it's evolution. As for the comment someone made how they all had white teeth? what the fuck did you expect dumbass?
- fingercore0
How was NAFTA any different 10 years ago? The idea was to always find the cheapest labor, both 10 years ago and today.
- cosmo0
u know screw the damn indians. This is bullshit! working for less means no commitment to the work, hence result is shit.
- jevad0
"GIF design"
HAHAHAHAHHA
- fingercore0
Indian's don't exactly have many options BUT to work for less. It's either that or nothing.
It's the equivalent of blaming people in Bangladesh for stealing jobs from our garment districts.
Indians are making more than slave wages, but not by much. And even if their standard of living is only a fraction of what it is in the US, it still translates to millions of dollars being pocketed by global coorporations.
Place the blame where it belongs.
