the so-called evil of outsourcing is what has fueled the amazing economic growth of the united states. it began in the 50s when manufacturing and agriculture started heading overseas. NAFTA did very little to speed this process up. In fact most economists were amazed at how little NAFTA did.
Produce a product cheaper and more efficiently is the name of the game. It equates to increased profits and cheaper prices.
No one is owed a job. If your career is eliminated it is time to move on. If the job isn't something you would want your child doing than you shouldn't be rooting for it stick around.
Globalization is here to stay and it affords you the many luxuries that you more than likely use and profit from on a daily basis.

their families are all probably starving and you guys are over here eating big macs and complaining about them taking your jobs.

if you can be replaced by some cheapass migrant worker you deserve to be.
more reason to perfect your skills and become the ubermensch you should be.

good god, man...
not sure who you're talking about there, but i never said they were taking my job. i'm not worried about that.
- scarabin0
i mean everyone who's a part of the whole "OMG INDIANS ARE TAKING OUR JOBS!@!!!@!" thing going on right now, not specifically you.

Outsourcing is just a way to put developers salaries down in us and eu. I guess this is one of those neo-liberaral/rebublican movements.
I dont think developers loose jobs in eu but salaries will go down.

I'm not worried about it. Good designers are an elite class, wherever we are. There are already tons of schmucks here taking "our" work away from us. The assholes that sell templates or offer $50 websites. There are also the thousands of Craigslist wankers who won't pay real money either.
Globalization is by and large a good thing, if we could only figure out how to make it work for us. They will make money and buy our stuff. What comes around goes around. But, that doesn't justify it alone. It is a crime that so many Americans have lost jobs to outsourcing. It's all about greedy corporations.
This is nothing new. See Japan. See Michael Moore's "Roger & Me." We're a hearty lot, we'll innovate to survive.

exactly
the global corporate culture needs to be rechecked...we need to make crucial descisons on how we want to live.

there are bigger problems than corporate profits. yes, many take the relentless pursuit of the dollar too far, but in general, corporate profits are a good thing for all of us. more of us need to get behind the wheel and drive that money in the right direction.
isolationist tendencies are misplaced and dangerous in these times. it is time to share the wealth by helping other countries expand their economies. being a lone superpower isn't a good thing.
in our lifetime big red will be stepping up to the plate. China is economic powerhouse that may eventually dwarf the US.
good times.

China and India will go head to head...India has the upper hand right now because there is no language barrier.

On a side note, India and China are in a space race. Pretty interesting, I think. Can you imagine the Chinese/Indians replacing the US flag on the moon? That would be a moment.
As for the outsourcing, it's all about business. Live, learn, and adapt, or you are gone. Gone are the days of getting and education and just sitting back for 50 years!
