I picked up a copy of Vice for the first time in at least 10 years. No more Dos & Dont's, no more photos of drunk/high partygoers, no snarky music reviews, no sarcasm, no risk.

    • i know, it sucks now!Gnash
    • Vice is basically a demographic analysis tank for Murdoch to charge MegaCorps to keep tabs on the youth and how best to wring them of their monies.detritus
    • I suspect their readership would be quite horrified at the 'private' jobs that go on internally there...detritus

I had no idea that oil change places like Jiffy Lube and Valvoline share customer vehicle data with insurance companies who will then revise customer policies based on usage. They also sell data to Carfax that will show up in a report on your vehicle history.

I'm nervous that someone is going to ask why I've spent so much time in the bathroom l and I will have to tell them that against my better judgement I ate some insanely hot food today and my belly and asshole feel like the surface of the sun.

Friday and i'm working on patching up a project, four images, the new buildings have somehow moved 2m from their original position whilst the rest of the model is fine, so all my masks are fucked.

I am going to 'shop some tits into the windows.

Ordered an Oral-B SmartSeries Pro 6500 electric toothbrush set (62% discount a promo with two handles for 111€ final price) by Amzon but after checking the product wanted to return them cause I would prefer the Oral-B Genius instead.

After checking the return reason and clicked next I came to a screen with the info that the product couldn't be returned for the reason I chose (I tried several other reasons with the same result).

I contacted them as only one week had passed from my initial order and they have an up to 30 day return policy to ask why.

I received a reply stating that I could either keep the product or throw it away and that I was entitled to a total refund over the product.

The toothbrushes are new and serve perfectly the function they were bought for. I just had another preference at the end.

So I got me a pair of electric toothbrushes that are worth close to 200€ each for free.

Recently someone here else experienced a similar situation recently as I remember.

A colleague just sent me the link below. I'm curious... how many of you watermark your work before sending to a client? I don't like the idea personally.

    https://creativemarket.com/blog/…

    • Never have, prob never will. Doing shit like that would damage my client relationships built over many years.fadein11
    • re: watermarksfadein11
    • I do if it's a new enquiry and I'm not wholly confident they won't simply forward my efforts to a competitor and ask "how much dis shit?"detritus
    • I've got a wee downsizing app that I drop photos or screengrabs into that sizes to something suiting both desktop and mobile, and adds my logo into a corner.detritus
    • never ever. sounds like kanye west.
brand the presentation if you want to promote yourself or your company.
      uan
    • just send lo-res art - useless to any client thenfadein11
    • Not for the sort of stuff I send out — I often send copyable 'solutions' in regard to a brief not artwork that could be re-sourced.detritus
    • I always use this as a rule of thumb on stuff like this - did Peter Saville / Neville Brody watermark their work? Did they fuck.fadein11
    • I don't. But I don't see it as a trust issue with the client, i think it's more a branding thing. I'm just too lazy to do it.Gnash
    • gnash - watermarking is more about protecting your work than branding no? obvs if I do a presentation my logo is in the corner. Perhaps I need to read the linkfadein11
    • Well the link suggests doing to save people stealing your work. Personally I think it's all utter fucking guff.set
    • I'm know that most use it for protecting work -- as it's intended. but I see it as a branding opportunity. mock-ups get passed around a lotGnash
    • and by watermark I mean some tiny thing in the corner, not a big-ass logo in middle of the imageGnash
    • The only people who have stolen my work (twice in 20 years) were fellow designers not fucking clients. I have always been a bit fussy about who I work withfadein11

After a fuck up which means I'm going to be here a half hour longer than the already long night I was expecting, I decided 'fuckit' and stormed off to the shop to buy some booze.

On the way I hocked over a small wall into a canal and moved on. Not nice, but there we are.

In the shop as I waited, the Turkish geezer I chat with every day looked over at me with concern and went to pull off a ream of blue toilet tissue he had to hand, which he then passed to me.

Perplexed, I followed his indication and wiped my cheek, assuming I had pen or char dust or something smeared across... no. Instead, a large glob of frothy spit, so large that he could see it as I waited, two back in the queue.

    *sigh*

Anyone running short term health insurance because they're healthy and gaming on trump repealing the penalty? Hard to justify $300 plans that have high deductibles and cover like 60%. I'm burning the midnight oil this weekend on a project that is due monday. I've been going hard on the MacBook and now when it's plugged into the thunderbolt display it crashes. My guess it's the GPU eating shit. The thing is from 2011 so I'm not surprised.

I REALLY hope I don't have to rush out tomorrow morning and buy a new one. Especially an overpriced touch bar shit that I don't want.
