@imbecile posted these pics earlier and i sent the comparison to my dad. In the 70s he was state champion and an olympic hopeful for Mexico.

This used to be his world, so seeing the new technology in today's bikes is just unreal for him.

    • My bike looks like the one on top...

    update on my dad:

It has been a totally surreal experience for me, but nothing compared to what he must be going through. There are about 10 family members that are with him right now including my brother and sister. My sister was telling me that he is a little overwhelmed/scared by being outside on the street. Mexico City is a massive metropolis and he doesn't know it that well, he is from the north.

They were shopping this evening because he really doesn't have a wardrobe at all. He has been wearing Beige for at least 25 years. No other color but Beige! So today he was wearing a bright red flannel in the last picture i saw. I'm sure he will never touch another beige piece of clothing again.

today they also visited his apartment in the city where he will live and make his studio. it has great light and is in a good neighborhood too.

    • Wonderful! Sounds like he'll have a life filled w/loved-ones regardless of how difficult a transition... happy for you, dad and the family, man :)PonyBoy
    • his mind is going to be blown and he will need a serious support network to deal with all the changes.Hayoth

In the market for a new machine for next year:

    - A powerfull PC, with ssd+32gb ram + gpu.
    - A mac mini i7 + 16gb ram + ssd
    - Or the new Surface Studio.

I've got a ultrasharp big ass monitor now, and i don't like this all in one concept in Surface machines. Prob. I prefer the machine + monitor + Cintiq combo...

    Your thougs?

    * i am running a pair of apps that only works on pc, whereby i am in doubt in the mac thing.

    • Yes nairn, the surface looks promising, but it'll be half price in a pair of years, and more powerfull if, for example, dell replicates it... 1st option winsOBBTKN

Had a nice chat this morning with him. We talked about yesterday and what it was like. He had planned on writing down his experiences because it's just so heavy but he hasn't started yet.

He was fascinated by a liquor box market. He said "I drank a cold quality beer!" I said, "well, you can get alcohol in prison right?" So he tells me that no, you cannot. Beer and booze is completely forbidden. You can score weed and rock and H he said. Those drugs make the inmates calm and stupid. The guards like that. But he said if you allow booze people go fuckin nuts and end up dead or severely fucked up.

It's like those old school AA guys that talk about if they had one drink they would be dead. It's like an allergic reaction for some people. They either stay drinking until blacked out or just get super violent.

We spoke over Facebook chat and part of the conversation he was explaining the nuances of WhatsApp voice calls vs. Facebook Messenger ones. He said he could hear a higher fidelity in the voice on the FB medium. i'm like wtf!? haha!!

He was invited to a movie and he doesn't really feel like sitting in a big enclosed area. Also women. He is seeing dozens and hundreds of women everywhere. Something he is not used to at all.

He tells me he feels like he has been transported to the future!!!

I need more excitement in my life. Everything seems so routine and i'm not really exercising any creativity. When I get home, i'm too tired and lazy to work on any personal projects. They've been in the back burner for years. I want to go to parties, drive across the country, visit paris, see more concerts. Bleh, my life is a bore. I'm just not taking any risks.

NO, not porn. Not "smack my bitch up" by Prodigy. And not Nike "Take it to the next level". But in this style.

So I'm back at work since Thursday. I decided to take a couple days off to really digest this new reality. Of course I have been talking with him all weekend. Saturday they spent the day in the city checking out museums, his favorite was the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Art. He mentioned that he had never seen a work of art in person. 30 years he has spent studying the masters and learning from books, but has never actually seen a piece of art up close like that. He was 32 years old when he was arrested. My sister told me that they had lunch in the city and they took him out for hot buffalo wings, something else he had never eaten and now loves. I keep asking my sister how she sees him and how she thinks he is doing. She tells me that he is often confused and tripped out on everyday mundane things. He was tripped out when they were in a parking lot and approached one of those parking ticket dispensers. Swiping a credit card and pushing a few buttons and having the ticket come out was something he had never seen and had never thought about, little things like that. She tells me he is totally spaced out sometimes like he has a thousand different feelings all at once and other times he is like a child discovering new things. Yesterday they drove to the Mexican state of Toluca which is near the capital, but at a higher elevation with snow capped mountains, he loved it. They were there to deliver a painting to a client.

If you were wondering he has made up his mind and is going with the new iPhone instead of Android. lol

As far as posting on here and wondering about his past and his crimes. None of that matters anymore it's all in the past and seriously nothing you guys write is going to offend me, like at all. There is no secrets and there is nothing that the news outlets in Mexico and the U.S. haven't already reported. Our family has gone through years and years of exposure to every type of criticism or praise that you can imagine. We are so happy, I am so happy I don't think anything could get me down anymore, like for the rest of my life!

He has not started painting of course he is setting up his studio right now. I am very interested to see what his new paintings will look like now that he is free. For years his paintings have had a dark side to them or a strong political angle to them. He said he couldn't help it, as much as he tried to make happier art it always turned dark. His painting were also dull at times like void of color. It was difficult for him to access a good amount of quality paints. I would place orders for him through Utrecht.com in NYC because that was the only place he liked to buy paints from if he was not mixing his own paints. But that got to be very expensive. I would often treat him with a tube of white oil paint made from Led or Zinc from the website and just one tube was an easy $150. So he had a limited source of supplies. He would make his own knives and spatulas too. Now he has access to the best tools possible. Maybe a dope set of brushes would be a great Christmas present for him but I also want to get him a MBP like a 15" one he has no idea what those things are capable of doing haha.

Here are a few pics from the weekend.

In the first one he is with his wife checking out some of the Architecture in Toluca.

This is him inside the Rufino Tamayo museum in Mexico City.

This last photo is so powerful and moving to me and my whole family. This is just about an hour after being released. My little sister is holding him. She is 20 and has never known him outside of Prison.

    • pretty amazing how life must be so new for him. Glad this is all happening Hijo and that you get to have more years with your pops.capn_ron

I signed up for some free product 10 years ago, and that email account has been blasted with spam ever since (50 emails some days).
