What do you do as a designer when the client's requests are completely against your design sensibilities.

    1) Do you recommend a better solution?

    2) Do you do it anyways and collect the check?

I eventually got tired of #1 and just went to #2 with my latest freelance. Client is happy, I think it's repulsive.

    • you are just vehicle in which the clients wishes are for filled. as long they are happy and you are paid. only other thing i can think of if you are notyurimon

So I dreampt there was an edit/delete button on QBN,

I went to town on it. only other thing i remember, it was designed badly with an early internet serif font using an early internet gradation. also they couldnt fit edit/delete on one button.

it read edit-del and the world delete came up in its entirety only on over mouse over. thats when my dream started to feet bad.

i think its time to call it a day.

Already posted in Punches For, but going to have to find a new web host after 12 years with a company who utterly shit the bed today.

They sent out an email saying I'd been migrated to a new and improved server. Went to check out my sites, all of the are down and are listing the basic hosting setup with a single cgi bin folder per domain. They said it would be a couple hours and I'm still waiting. So utterly frustrating.

I am so fucking pissed about this hosting mess. I'm ripping this host apart once my sites are back up and I've downloaded all my data. I'm just not doing anything before then, because if I said what I want to say, they'd probably kill my data and I'd never get any of back.

It's not so much the downtime that bothers me. It's that they have not sent a single message proactively about it. They have not posted anything about the outage on their server status page. They basically botched a server transfer and are having to run a synchronization check for God knows how many hundreds of hosting accounts on that server. That's what pisses me off.

    • Go...GoDaddy.Hayoth

    We're running on fossil fuel.

Fossil fuel is made in large parts of death dinausaurs, plants and animals.

Those plants and animals were killed in mass instinction cataclysm that eradicated large part of living being from surface of the Earth.

We're running on death, and we're killing ourselves from it.

Crazy week at the studio; two huge presentations, 2 days working till 11pm... 100+ pages in PPT for each, plus renders, mockups, rationals and budgets. My back hurts, my neck feels like someone is standing over my head, and probably I got one or two birds living in my eye-bags. Can't wait to get home and have a cold beer, or 6. Happy friday sheeples!

A website project fell into my lap, and I'm not sure if I want to take it. Someone close asked me to look over a quote from a firm for a pretty basic ass website. I said this was too high, and they asked if I would give a counter proposal. 95% sure I'll get it, but don't really want to.

On one hand, the budget is very nice (non-profit kinda thing), and I could use a canned CMS solution to sort it out. Although, I'd use something relatively bare bones, most likely.

On the other hand, I really don't want to spend my downtime on this. Literally just finished up a side project with hopes of dedicating my time to personal projects. It's hard to turn down relatively easy money, though. So, I'm not sure what I want to do.
