I've got a bunch of kitchen stuff I'd be willing to box up and send someplace once he's settled.

^^ i love the smack down talk while talking about the wrong person
like Mariah Carey talking about death of king jordan, and she referred to Michale Jordan
- kuzzAAAAM0
Shit, justin - he was clone, cloned, version3 etc.. right? That guy reminded me of me: self-absorbed douchebag with few redeeming qualities - That's a compliment
i'd be much more moved to give to someone i know than some anonymous bum in the congo. That is fucking harsh what has happened to him.
NB: All the twats, kindly get off your moral high horse: if you give a shit, give something or STFU (shut the fuck up)
- moth0
That's shit an all, but I'm just as likely to give Justin money as I am some dude from the Democratic Republic of Congo who emailed me last week.
I presume his friends and family are still alive - call me old fashioned, but aren't they people you count on in times like this?
Jesus...
- CuriousGeorge0
maybe eric jordan or pixelranger will help he out, he's been very nice to them.
- nicnichols0
When I was 16 my mothers store burnt to the ground, and it was horrible.. I understand the feeling of loss, and how everything you have can vanish in an instant.. I couldn't even imagine losing my pets as well..
Count me in on any help, is there any list of things he needs to get back on his feet?
- a list would be useful you never know what people have going spare.Mal
- dyspl0
I see your point. In some way you are right.
But I have to say that I would have done like Paul if I was in the same situation.
That said, the idea of a poster or any good on sale made by qbn members or editors would be a nice idea.
- mistermik0
would anyone like to donate a mountain bike?
- 23kon0
Dyspl
Well as long as in the end, any one of us can get QBN to post up ANY stories/links that are important and personal to ourselves but not necessarily everyone else into the Editors Choice."Good for the goose ..."
- dyspl0
Paul might be abusing his right as an editor, but in the end all I see is that he does his best to help a friend, which is what really matter.
- sometimes abusing your right can lead to good things like us discussing and thinking about solutions and other peoples welfare in general.brandwidth
- rubbish! abusing things leads to getting "Strikes" from QBN then being banned23kon
- you cant write threads challenging the way the site is run so why should be allowed to editors abuse rights?23kon
- neue75_bold0
Would be cool if the QBN editors came together and made some posters or something that we could buy/bid on them with all proceeds going to Justin...
- why the editors?
why not have an open comp. think it'd raise the standards23kon - good idea 23kondyspl
- thought if it came from them, you lot would have less of a problem with it being posted here...neue75_bold
- How about lets do some posters to raise money for the 3rd world...set
- it's been done to death...neue75_bold
- yea saving starving children is so cliche these days. FUCK OFF!set
- slightly over the top F-OFF there no malicious intent here, but seriously now... overdone?set
- I was kidding...neue75_bold
- but it has been done, and successfully, http://www.designedt…
thus it's a good idea..neue75_bold - http://www.designgiv…flavorful
- i see rybo inspiration top right there 75!set
- why the editors?
- 23kon0
my point was...
OK, so if someone else knows of someone in need of help, will they be able to ask QBN to put a link to it in the Editors choice?
Im not saying its a good or bad thing to donate money and whether people should or not
Im suggesting that Paul is maybe abusing his right as an Editor by posting this, that is all.
- neue75_bold0
it's about people helping people, help people, ffs...

I don't Justin is getting a bashing. Paul maybe is a bit.
Hench did end his first comment with this:
"Just being a wanker really, pointing out the human condition, hope the guy gets sorted out."
- AllenF0
Its funny that Hench doesnt want to start a moral debate, but the reason Paul has started this whole "Help Justin," is because of where his morals are.
Around 2 years ago while I was at college, a roommate of mine paralyzed himself while diving into a pool. He shattered his 5th vertebrae (C5), leaving him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He was in the intensive care unit as well as rehab for over 5 months. He was without insurance. Now paint a mental picture of how much something like that would cost.
Close friends of his, as well as myself included, put forth a valiant effort to raise money for his medical bills. We had fund raisers, like what Paul has done, as well as concerts with bands that we knew around the area. Hundreds of strangers who didnt even know him came out, showed support and donated.
You dont need to know Justin, or for that fact like Justin, but what you can do is try and relate to the position he has been put in. I know for a fact that he will rise back to the top because he is just that kind of person. But to have everything you've owned, everything you've worked for diminish right in front of your eyes has to be like a knife to the heart.
I pray that Justin (and Nicole), get back on track to re-starting their life again. I do not feel that people need to publicly bash Justin for the situation he has been put in, nor do I think that Paul needs to be scrutinized for trying to be a good friend.
All I ask is you put yourself in his shoes. If you lost everything, wouldnt you want your friends there to help support you?
I think I made my point,
Allen

Its nice that people are willing to help someone out by donating.
The fact that you have done that Paul is a nice thing to do.However you are abusing your privilidge as an Editor to put this in as an Editors choice are you not?
Yes, you might know him and he's a good friend to you - but most of the users on here won't know the guy so why would/should they donate?Does that mean if a friend of mine or a designer/programmer i know gets turfed out of their home or comes down with a critical illness I will be able to count on QBN posting it up as a Editors Choice to try raise some money??
What's good for the Goose should also be good for the Gander.
I think that's maybe the point that Hench was trying to raise but it was taken by everyone as "why should i give him money".
- morilla0
This isn't about all the people in the world who have it worse off. It is about Justin. He was a regular here and a friend to many.
We should consider ourselves lucky to have people here willing to help out.
- jaylarson0
I hope my $10 helps. Good luck. I hope the money makes it to you Justin.
- ninjasavant0
The way I see it is that there's a lot of people in need, I used to be one of them. When I was sleeping in my car, and couch surfing, and surviving off of other people's leftovers. I was damn glad that I had my health but more importantly I was grateful to the people who picked up a meal for me and let me sleep on their couch so I could get through school.
Other people having it worse helped keep things in perspective but its true, its a lot different when its your life. And I'm really sorry about all of the people in the world who suffer, its part of the reason why I participate so heavily in microfinance at kiva.org and charitable donations.
The thing about Justin's situation is that he doesn't live in a third world country, he lives in (some of) our country and to a broader extent, all of our society. We've set a standard of living that is hard to live beneath. Even when I had nothing at least I had something. Right now Justin has more nothing than I ever did and in this society thats a hard road to look down.
Its because of the kindness of friends and strangers that I've made it this far. And its because of their kindness that I want to help everyone I can. If Jusin's situation doesn't move you to help then sobeit. But the fact that you are on a computer reading this shows that you have more than most in the world and I hope you realize your position and help bring somebody get closer to surviving.
