I still dont know what fungible means
- fungus (plural: fungi)babydick
- Fungus is Among Us!utopian
- mutually interchangeableutopian
- It means if u buy 1 k/w of electricity from ur electric company for 1 euro, they could swap out that 1 k/w of electricity with any other, it wouldn't make anycherub
- difference to you, because the kilowatt wasn't unique or special.cherub
- It was fungible.cherub
- Why would they swap it?drgs
- They don't swap it, or better, there's no difference anyway so you'd never know which kilowatt of electricity you are getting bcuz they are all the same.cherub
- Sort of like a £1 coin has the same value, at least in theory, as another that comes off the mint at the same time.cherub
- When you're bench pressing 100kg you don't care what specific weights you're putting on.palimpsest
- Your gym neighbor may be using the red weights while you're using the black ones. You're still lifting 100kg, that's fungible.
Hope that helps.palimpsest - Got it✍drgs
- So, Bitcoin is fungible?drgs
- No, Bitcoin is not fungible, they leave a trace. I think people would like them to be fungible.palimpsest
- In the end nothing is fungible, it's about how we decide to treat objects (physical or not).palimpsest
- And that's why NFTs seem really smart for some and really stupid for others.palimpsest
- Those red weights could become non fungible because you decide they make you stand out more and that's the value you assign to them.palimpsest
- I understand now. If the biggest meatheads in the gym use red plates, I want to use them too, thus black and red plates, both 20 kg, are not fungibledrgs

"My 12yo brought up a good point/question. What’s to stop people..."Do you understand what the word "public" means in the phrase "public blockchain?"
Ask your 12 yo to explain it to you, bcuz obviously u don't.

these are outrageous for now, but likely are the future of the internet where every piece of media is an NFT and every interaction will come with some microtransaction that gives X amount to the current owner (could also include articles etc)
- neverscared0
- Work smarter not harder.palimpsest
- and the buyer has a $200K NFT he can sell for $250K to another rich guy.uan
- So he actually lost $50k?palimpsest
- Until it go POOF! What a ponzi scheme it all is.formed
- This is not how markets work. The moment Raheed spends $2 million on his own NFT, he owes opensea $40k in platform fees. (1st mistake)cherub
- 2nd, the moment Raheed spends $2 million on his own NFT he will lose tons of money because buying it for $2 million doesn't mean others will followcherub
- and buy it for that amount too, especially with 1 entry in the sale history of the NFT. You'd be stuck with a failed NFT and lost your fiat. Markets do not workcherub
- this way. Imagine u buy a wrecked volvo for 3 million then advertise your volvo claiming its "really worth" 3 million bcuz thats what u paid. Will someone bite?cherub

Yesterday Samsung announced some of their 2022 range of TVs will feature an NFT Marketplace where users can browse and buy NFTs which can then be viewed in ArtMode on their Smart TV's.
Users are currently buying and renting artworks for ArtMode on some of their TV's like The Frame and The Serif so this won't be a huge leap to get these users into buying and collecting NFTs - pieces of artwork they'll own forever and not just be 'renting'.
I think this is bigger news than Coinbase NFT Platform as CB will mostly be bringing folk who are already into crytpo into the NFT world. Whereas the Samsung platform will be bringing in Joe Bloggs. And with Samsung having over 30% of the worldwide TV sales each year, that's a whole lot of people!
- Any day now 3d TV's are going to take offShenanigansTV
- good for the oligarchs for sure.. You can now showcase your Bore Ape collection on a TV screen.neverscared
- I have a Frame TV and it comes with enough great art for free, plus you can upload your own if you want.nb
- I'm curious about that revenue. I suspect that nearly all the current revenue is from users who accidentally subscribed & have forgotten about it.nb
- However, this NFT thing could get a few douchebags who want to brag about owning the NFT that is currently displayed on the TVnb
- They could brag about a screenshot of the NFTd artwork and save some $.monospaced
- @nb Do you like the FRAME TV? I want one but with new TVs already thin and tiny bevels I wondering if it's worth the xtra $fooler
- Had the Frame TV for years, LOVE it and would buy it again. Hire a pro to mount it for you (and explain what it is so they do it right.)nb
- The thing about Frame TV is that it's not as good as other TVs but I so strongly hate the aesthetic of a TV and the Frame completely solves that problem.nb
- Nobody notices it. Unless they've been thinking of getting the Frame themselves, nearly everyone thinks it's a lit framed print. Beautiful design.nb
- If you're like me and you care more about aesthetics and industrial design than you care about watching TV... you'll love it.nb
- lol, what a flippin shitshow
https://www.theguard…neverscared - fits right into righwing sillicon valley crypto bros... that samsung tv is great for donald he loves tv. so he can buy stuff easy for melania.neverscared
- My friend has a frame TV. Cool idea, but unfortunately, the picture itself is pretty shit, especially compared to direct competitor offerings.monospaced
- Like I said, it depends if you care more about beautiful industrial or care more about watching TV.nb
- At my house we watch one or two movies per month and that's it. So it's in "art" mode over 99% of our waking hours. Worth it!nb
- *industrial designnb
- Brilliant for oligarchs with their high ETH purchases or joe bloggs with their large tezos collection alike.microkorg
- u love the oligarchs or u dont... its a way to live your life.neverscared
- looks like marketing narrative that crypto hustle is anti-empowering the oligarchs
is over now... at least u are admitting.neverscared - didn´t know there is another one ..apart from hayoth and robo that loves the trump oligarchs so much...micro is enjoys them too.neverscared
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯microkorg
- nd, great to hear good stuff about the frame from someone who's owned one for a while. Wanted one for years but never been in a position to get a new TV ...microkorg
- ..with home and rooms/layouts being in limbo while we rebuilt/refurbished.microkorg

@microkorg: The samsung thing is nice, but did you know WoW is planning to offer a clothing line?
They also did a branding refresh recently, and a website redesign is coming. I smell work. If I knew how to design I'd be sending my cv asking them to cough up some ETH.
These woman are not poor. Reese Witherspoon is now a WoW holder.
- WoW would have been a good project to invest in from the mint. They are commanding pretty decent prices now.microkorg

Doctorow honed in on the “right-clicker mentality” concept, a term NFT nerds use to criticize people who disrespect the value of their property by saving digital art without paying for it.
“The term comes to us from the world of NFTs,” he added, “which have blown up into a massive, fraud-ridden speculative bubble that is blazing through whole rain-forests’ worth of carbon while [transferring] billions from suckers to con-artists.”
- hard to gut but worth to read.neverscared
- republicans never had a problem fucking the planet and doing massive fraud.. whose gonna to the bail out is the question that remains.. after its collapsed.neverscared

Why the climate-wrecking craze for crypto art really is beyond satire
Critics attacked Don’t Look Up for being over the top. But the mania for NFTs shows how on-the-money the movie is
https://www.theguardian.com/comm…
dont look up
- It isn't all climate-wrecking. There's Tezos.
https://wiki.tezosag…microkorg - yes i know... still. i hardly think tezos will be an excuse for the other.. to you know the relationshipt of tezos driven sales and the rest ?neverscared
- evidnetly the number cant be high enough to legititimate the nft toxic system as a whole.neverscared
- evidentlyneverscared
- tezos is hypcrite too in my view, sponsoring formula 1 while playing the eco friendly blockchain.neverscared

^Confused old grandpa can't spell much less figure out crypto. Stop spreading disinformation you idiot.
quote-" And the computation needed to provide the certification that is the USP of blockchains requires massive amounts of electricity, which comes with a correspondingly heavy carbon footprint. A single transaction on the Ethereum blockchain, for example, currently requires 232.51 kWh, which is equivalent to the power consumption of an average US household over 7.86 days."
He is talking about proof work protocol, we're way past that in the crypto world now. Bitcoin uses proof of work, but there are no NFTs inside a bitcoin you dumbfuck. Bitcoin is the chad coin, you can't be creative there, only rich. Bitcoin has nothing to do with NFT world.
With the exception of ethereum(who claims to be releasing ethereum 2.0 soon), most all the new chains use something called "proof of stake." Tl;dr version: proof of stake doesn't need computation for mining, it's based on stake. Hence, doesn't need much energy, and the gas fees are reasonable.
Tezos is quickly taking over to be the premiere NFT coin. It uses proof of stake. People are abandoning ethereum, and switching to tezos because it is better for the environment.
lol tired old grandpa is gonna think i'm trying to wind him up. i'm just pointing out your mistakes you confused loser.
- Lol. PoS doesn't exist in ETH yet, you goon.Nairn
- Oh, I should have read further, but still, it's all a crockNairn
- so less knowledge so much puny pride ...if thats old grandpa what are u ? stoopid little uninformed baby ?!neverscared
- < mate you're the one misinformed lol
Most if not all "pricey" NFTs use Ethereum. Tezos is hardly used. Not to mention it's all speculation so no real usegrafician - The lack of tech sophistication in users of crypto and NFTs is hilarious too lolgrafician
- ^I was talking to cherub here ofc, NOT neverscared, just to be cleargrafician
- so you two are dating then? glad u confirmed it... CHEERS!cherub
- evidently u are not only dating missinformation, you are also married to it.neverscared

Most common (biggest) NFT marketplaces use Ethereum:

Tezos on HEN is for hobby artists, all the crypto bro grifters use ETH, nobody really takes PoS blockains seriously
First comers always win and centralize power, after that, everybody joins because FOMO and end up losing
- Oh and the fact that artists need to shill crypto and the scene to find other fools to invest, so they can cash out, is hilarious toografician
- I mean, you coming here "discussing" differences between blockchains and attacking people over crypto, instead of focusing on your art...grafician
- So thrill us with your art bro, not with your lousy tech knowledge, just sayinggrafician
- Lots of big artists using and moving to tezos. Also Rarible now has Tezos integration and OpenSea will have it soon and they took onboard Polygon which ismicrokorg
- ..greener isnt it?microkorg
- You guys still think NFT have something to do with art?!
Smhgrafician - then again artists were always the most naive members of society...grafician
- Ethereum has been promising to move to proof of stake since... (checks notes) 2014.jonny_quest_lives
- to be fair to Ethereum it's sort of something you can't fuck up so I'll give them benefit of the doubt for taking their time.jonny_quest_lives
