I like to meditate in water usually.
- i used to lay and float only with my nose above water to breath, no movement, just listening, space like sensations.helloeatbreathedrive

Never really knew much about this, but watching the lynch speech and seinfeld, i kinda feel like they were explaining beliefs i already had somehow.
Spent like an hour after that reading articles and stuff, then decided to try a 25 minute meditation just to kinda see if i could do it.
About 10 minutes in i swear to god i was so dizzy i felt like i was going to lurch forward and smash my head on something so i laid down on my back on the floor. Right before feeling super dizzy and disoriented i remember having thoughts of being really scared and of letting go of tension, i had like this kinda ache in my chest that i knew was from my muscles tensing and i had this moment of relaxing it and as soon as i did i felt really scared for some reason.. haha like i was scared of some unknown shit like you feel the first time you take mushrooms or something and are waiting for it to kick in...
Anyways, i guess i feel a little more rested and if anything i will prolly try again in the morning just to kinda get some oxygen to my brains before i start my day. Usually too reliant on coffee and muscle tension kinda just twitching me through my day until i crash on a pillow at the end.
Cool story bro.

I started doing TM a couple of years ago. I had been thinking about doing it for a long time as many of my peers talked about how it helped them.
I developed anxiety just before I started doing it and I can say it has helped keep it at bay.
I feel better and more grounded when I do my meditation. I come up with a lot of answers and creative ideas during the 20 minutes as well.
I have a few close friends who started, one particular who was stressing a lot and smoked weed to de-stress now just uses meditation instead.
I am totally fine with paying the $900 it cost here (in the Bay Area), as it goes to help the foundation, contributes to victims, school kids etc and pay the teachers.
- even relaxation does cost money, modern times eh.helloeatbreathedrive
- Because when I think philosophy and inner peace, I think Howard Stern and Jerry Seinfeld.garbage

I do mindfulness meditation on the regular. There's a fair amount of emerging evidence to supports the benefits. Personally, it helps me cope with ADHD, depression and occasional anxiety.
Today TM is a bit of a racket. I think the idea was that initially you could go down to your local studio, pay $50, and learn to meditate. That fee enabled the studios to stay open so the practice could spread. Now you can find guided meditations on youtube and the app store. No one needs local studios anymore, especially because they're so expensive to maintain that apparently it takes $900/person to sustain them.
- I nearly was a buddist monk in my youth and did a lot of meditation. I found meditating to null your inner voice ... not helpful. Very interested in TMmugwart
- but it does seem a scam. in London its like £250-300 it seems and thats alot. $50 is fair price.mugwart
- Rent costs a lot more these days. The difference between mindfulness and TM doesn't seem so vast to me mechanically.jtb26
- It's not really about nulling your inner voice. Just practicing your ability to separate your thoughts from your perception of reality.jtb26
- yes. seperating thoughts from perception of reality. a layering of thoughts. niiicedocpoz
