'For a start, tourism will be booming'
As a result of what, exactly. Please, do explain the logic underlying that conclusion.
'France and Germany will be falling over themselves to do business because their economy relies heavily on the UK buying their stuff'
Err, no. In order of exports, the EU's largest trading partners are the United States, China and Russia.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li…'London is still financial capital of the world'
That would actually be New York City. Not London.
'Multi nationals will still go there as they speak english'
Not with a crippled British economy they're aren't.
'No longer get told what to do by unelected people in Brussels'
Correction: MEPs are elected.
'Get to control who comes into the country like Australia'
You were always able to anyway. The UK was never in the Schengen zone, and even EU nationals had to present ther passports. Nothing here changes.
- They might be falling over themselves to buy up more of our assets if the pound is 25% downRanger

- And you need to actually stop talking bollocks.Continuity
- The city of London is the financial capital of the world. But technically that's not England.set
- I've challenged your 'facts'. So far, I've seen no counter-points. Just a clutch of ad hominems. Since that's the status quo, feel free to lick my taint.Continuity

Arab oil sheiks will buy the rest of the UK and turn it into their own emirates.
Lol. What an end while getting afraid of some immigrants.

^^ yuekit is probably right
Mr Johnson is followed in the betting by Theresa May and Michael Gove who are available at 2/1 and 6/1 respectively.
Next Prime Minister after Cameron
11/8 Boris Johnson
2/1 Theresa May
6/1 Michael Gove
12/1 George Osborne
16/1 Jeremy Corbyn- It could be very well be Boris and Trump in charge by end of yearyuekit

And so the u-turns begin. Farage backtracking on his £350m for NHS claims this morning.
- Farage can't tell his arsehole from his fucking elbow.face_melter
- and majority of the brit bought his shit...pango
- That's not true at all. I think most people voted out in spite of Farage, not because of himset

- I was thinking the same thing, the media moguls must be loving this chaos and all the $$$ the coverage will bring.BuddhaHat

We should've expected this when the conservatives gained full control of parliament. Now we have half a country with their head in their hands confused and full of desperation, with the other half being racist, filthy, reactionary scum.
- Wow, spot who is utterly, utterly brainwashed by the media.set
- that attitude is a big reason why people voted outFax_Benson

Bloke on BBC news, who voted leave, just said that he is shocked and worried and didn't think his vote would count - thought we would remain.

So, before this campaign I would have said I wouldn't have foreseen the re-unification of Ireland in my lifetime... and TBH I didn't give a shit as things were pretty stable (you can walk about town without getting shot or blown up)
"I think the fact that we have seen a situation where 56% of the people of the north - who are unionists and nationalists and republicans - voted together to stay in Europe, further strengthens the case for a border poll." - Martin McGuinness
Not one of the unionist politicians saw this coming... we have dual citizenship and so many of us have just switched nationality over night. If this leads to recession, anyone here who's not staunchly unionist will be carrying Irish passports by the end of the year... a referendum on Irish unification is inevitable and probably another 20 years of blowing each other up. WELL DONE YOU FUCKING IDIOTS

Number of UK citizens: 65,111,143
Number of Leave voters: 17,410,74227%
that's democracy
- yepoey
- On the other hand in some dictactorships 95% of voters. Ruler gets 98% of votes.oey
- wait, is that voters or just citizens?sofakingback
- I guess you're not implying that babies should vote.oey
- Of course, Im saying. instead of 65k citizens, how many eligible voters are there.
That would make this point a little different. see?sofakingback - not 65 million eligible to vote - around 50 million and not everyone turned out - so yes alas it is democracy.fadein11
- not 65k lol sorry.sofakingback
- fucking stupid argument, as 16,200,730 voted stayhans_glib
- somebody is very confused hereoey
- Good point, lolsofakingback
- just because you can't vote doesn't mean you are not materially impacted by the decision.lowimpakt

Damn, seems pretty crazy.
What will be the repercussions of this for the average citizen?
Whats the general take on this from British citizens before this whole thing went down, did you guys always want out?
I once talked to a guy in Spain about the whole EU thing and he said they mostly hated it.
Well... Congrats / Sorry to hear. Cheer up its Friday.
- We don't know the repercussions yet - noone does. And that's why voting out was so stupid.fadein11
- EU has loads of problems - like any administration. It's weird how people expect it to be perfect when their own govts are just as bad...fadein11
- But being in had v.little impact on us and way more benefits. It's xenophobia ramped up by our right wing mainly Murdoch press.fadein11
- I know the long term big stuff is unknown. Im talking more like... mmm.. travel? Ability to work in EU countries... If you're from Spain and you live in UK,sofakingback
- first thing we'll do with our independence is get a new, unelected new prime minister overseeing a new, unelected governmentFax_Benson
- Do you have to leave now? Shit like that.sofakingback
- in 2 years time we're gone. see ya! hello border controls and queues to get to france yayhans_glib
- There is a convoluted process, i think there is a timeframe of two years to begin the actual process of leaving. So nothing will happen overnight.face_melter
- Damn, thats pretty fucked up.sofakingback
- But after Cameron is shit-canned, who knows how fast whole thing will go. The swivel-eyed gonks may just jam on the accelerator and gun it towards the EXIT signface_melter
- Sounds like the EU big boys want us out quickRanger
- I'm sure I read that this could escalate into several other countries proposing to leave the EU too. Like France, Spain and Italy.Ianbolton
- @Ian, so far that narrative has been limited only to the likes of Geert Wilders, Marine LePen, the Italian Northern League, the AfD, et al.Continuity
- It just ocured to me, actually, the enormous (but frightening) irony of the solidarity amongst the anti-EU extreme right.Continuity
- @Ian, those countries know they're stronger within a "big" EU than going their way alone...OBBTKN
- I think the changes the EU is going to do now after the uk leave, it's going to strengthen the Union, i wishOBBTKN
- I wish this, too. We need the EU. We need a strong EU, and we need to stay true to its values.Continuity

my parents' generation had it all and fucked it up

or did they make a mistake back in '73, and are now putting it right? who knows...

Woke up this morning to the crazy news that we're probably going to be leaving the EU.
Although up here in Scotland we had a 6 to 4 majority to stay so it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Sturgeon is due to make an announcement this morning with regards to a possible independence referendum No.2. In which case I think this time around most people will vote YES and we'll say cheerio to England and stay in the EU.
Really concerned with what may brew over in Ireland.
