According to Wikipedia, Facebook has 11,996 employees. I understand Facebook is big and needs engineers, designers, coders, security people, sales people, customer service and such, but 12k is a lot of people.
What do you think 12k people do that 2,000 cannot?

monitoring conversations and being completely fooled when people use code words like "420" and "lucy" when making drug deals

If I had $50 billion... 2,000 working at Facebook, and 10,000 in my harem.

having spent a lot of time in their buildings - there are a fuck bucket load of advertising sales people.

WhatsApp handles 42 billion messages daily with just 57 engineers.
- because they have no actual daily business to do, like real clients who stay in touch with them etc.. it's just a technical service to maintainmekk
- regardless, it's a well run operationernexbcn
- i use this app, didn't realize i would like it as much. it's a pretty cool all in one communication tool.sea_sea

I've started a similar thread a few ago. I'm asking the same question, i dont understand what 12,000 persons do everyday for 40 hours/week at Facebook...
Same thing for many other social network.

Even for WhatsApp.... 57 enginneers, what are they doing 40h/week ??
- Checking for cock and flange pics. Do The Kids even use WhatsApp for that nowadays? I've lost track.face_melter

Running FB with 2,000 employees? Good luck
You know it's not just a functioning website, right?
Advertising, data analysis and sales of the results,, data storage systems, development, side projects, marketing, HR, finance, investment, facilities, legal, fuck knows what else... and now factor in that every country uses it and has its own cultural preferences and legal implications...
So that's about 3,000. They then need the rest to search for lady nips and remove them.

Doesn't seem like many to me. They have to have some insane security, probably the best in the world. FB goes down for an hour and it'll be a minor catastrophe.
Think of all the hackers out there, if you could take FB down you'd be an instant legend. Forget NSA, FB is a real-time pulse of the world nowadays.
Then we've got the drones, virtual reality and probably a car or some rocket ship. Why not? You got that money you can try anything.

For example when I went to where ever they are (cupertino) the Instagram team was 40 people, Facebook massive.
Totally related to advertising.
Now Instagram has advertising, the staff numbers have rocketed

Its probably a lot of sales douche bags. I've heard of stories where they take out celebrities just to convince them to use FB.

I'm willing to bet that most of those 11,996 work well over 40 hours a week as well. From what I've read, lots of young people at places like that, totally willing to work their asses off, make a mark of some kind, set themselves up for jobs anywhere because they have that background. I think the same goes for Google, Apple, Twitter, several other of the bigger and popular tech companies.
- i remember that story of a guy who made a tiny appartment in a truck and lived in the parking lot of one of those companies.Bennn
