SyFy has been decent lately.
Childhoods End was pretty good too.- I have that recorded :)monospaced
- the book was so great. I didnt even know they made a series holy molyBrokenHD
- anything by Arthur C. Clarke is so great. All Sci Fi should set the bar at that level if it was possible.CyBrainX

Damn you all to hell.
I watched the first episode of this a while back after TBO recommended it, but was expecting something completely different so didn't gel.
After seeing this thread last night I gave the second episode a go and then, despite having the vaguest clue of what was going on because it was so long since I'd seen the first one, ended up watching four episodes. Not smart when I sat down to start at 11pm! It even piqued the interest of my annoyed, sci-fi-wary partner.
I didn't read the books, and can imagine that some of my quibbles were addressed (namely the form of the belters, etc).
And yes, it is quite BSG in parts — I missed that first time around.
So far, so good. Not brilliant, but not not.
- It's decent while waiting for another season of black mirror or GITSArchitectofFate

great show. the world needs more good sci-fi shows like this.
hbo star trek reboot?
- over CBS' rotting dead corpse, lol. they just won't let go of the franchise! I'd love a fresh take on Star Trek with some of the style from The ExpanseBuddhaHat
- shit. wasn't aware they had the rights.doesnotexist
- Star Trek Discovery premieres this year. CBS in the US, Netflix most everywhere else.i_monk
- damn, the trailers aren't impressivedoesnotexist
- They haven't released a trailer yet, just a teaser cobbled together two hours before ComicCon last year. Shooting ep 1 just wrapped yesterday.i_monk

Right.
Binged this, and I'm all caught up.
Overall, I like it. It can be ponderous in stretches, exciting in others. I can see influences of BSG; as well as Firefly, in the way some of scenes on the Roci play out.
I'm pretty pissed off that they offed Miller; he was easily my favourite character.
The under-secretary's voice makes me want to curl up into a ball and scream, it's so fucking annoying.
Alex is cool, though, I really like him.
Bobby started off being annoying, but I actually started warmimg up to her in the last couple of episodes of S02.
Definitely looking forward to season three.
But: they fucking killed off Miller. Cunts.
