Difficult to tell on desktop but have they made the jump to the mobile view at a wider breakpoint, like I suggested?
If so, that's going to make browsing on my nexus 7 far nicer. Thanks!

Ok say notes now have a much longer text limit and it fixes the problem of not being able to see the username on longer posts (which weren't even that long).
I think this may be a clever alternative, after the initial shock.

- Notes are such a huge part of QBN and proper conversations often divert sideways. I think this works better than before, more text allowed and easier to read through.********
- if notes are such a big thing then they should be incorporated into the post they annotate better. if nothing else then just to avoid all that empty space. Though I will concede that when the post is long enough a column is kind of ok.hans_glib
- Simple fix is to limit it to 3 notes before the 'show more'. If they have any sense they'll do that soon :)********

The scroll bar divider being so close to the Discussion thread type is irritating. Actually, just its gradient-shaded existence feels out of place here. Same with this Broadcast button below, not in-line with the rest of the page.
Side notes type is too close to main comment size, which doesn't help hierarchy. White I don't mind the stacking, i think it would be better handled like the mobile version, where you get one or two, and then they fade off and require a scroll. Also, with the gray, like on mobile.

Yes! They've changed the breakpoint so I get the mobile view on my nexus 7.... So much better.
