How many burned bridges or severed connections have you had in your career?
Ever had a client who gave you Tiny projects and paid late, but you're a good person and don't want to turn them down.

I leave a trail of gasoline everywhere behind me. The trick is having restraint with the match.

only the bridges that were broken to begin with

I did it at the first agency I worked for in 2001. The company folded 8 years later.

If you don't burn bridges, you might end up on an island full of zombies.

Most clients suck.

Just do what you do. You can't let any client or boss push you around. Fuck them!
Having said that, you should never burn bridges if you absolutely don't have to. Try to maintain good relations with all past clients.

I burned a bridge when I was in my mid 20's with an agency. One of my highest paying salaries.
Wish that I went about quitting in a different way. They loved me and I hated them in all my 20 y/o angst, they took on all of the clients that my little anarchist heart had disdain for.
Today, I'd totally take on those clients and take their $ too.

I've burned bridges with small clients I shouldn't have taken on work with, whilst being in full-time work. Did it a handful of times and felt terrible about it, and have learnt my lesson.
Typically consisted of getting one or two rounds into a project, and then having to respond to their (often unreasonable and ill-informed) change requests with a "I'm sorry, I just don't have any more time, I need to give you the files and leave you to it"
And being a sucker, in those handful of cases, I cut my fee by way of apology.
So hang on, thats not really a burnt bridge is it? Slightly charred?

I have burnt a couple of bridges before walking across, does that count ? ... Anyway, no regrets

If they see you as a monkey who does simple things they cannot be bothered to learn and pay like that, do it and don't complain or quit.
You can't teach a client to appreciate you.

I'm literally on the verge of smashing the fuck out of a bridge with a client. Ive never done this before so VERY nervous...

What's the point of burning bridges? Just to salve your ego?
- to avoid being tempted to go backspl33nidoru
- and dealing over and over again with the same shit you can no longer stand (but might periodically forget about)spl33nidoru
- Ego affects your day. If someone is being a pain, you either accept it or tell them off.freedom

The worst thing you can do is be a bad employee / freelancer.
If you don't like the work and people, quit or suck it up and put a smile on your face. It will only get worse if you are angry when dealing with clients.
- I worked for them w/ all my heart. They just didn't give a shit about humanity.bklyndroobeki
