On the one hand, i'd would say that we've come a long way from these brutal inhuman tactics, but then again, this kind of shit probably still goes on in other nations. Humans are messed up.

I'm most amazed at the fact that these methods apparently existed across 1,000 years based on their stating that the Midevil Period was from the 5th - 15th century.
Don't know what I'm trying to say exactly, but that's 1,000 years, countless generations of people using these methods. A timeline of when they were each invented would be interesting.
