Things to do in Vancity...
Cycle or rollerblade around Stanley Park. Vera's burgers are ok. I just prefer Fatburger on Denman (not sure it they are still open since that chinese girl drove her bmw right into it while she was texting).
Spend half a day in Granville Island. Lots of granola girls here and there's some interesting art sometimes. Check out the stores, visit the market, do a little shopping at Opus, check out Emily Carr's book store and grab some fish and chips.
You are obviously gonna have to go to Robson street and do a little Shopping. If you want to go to a shopping centre (mall), go to Pacific Centre or go to Metrotown in Burnaby which is a lot bigger.
If you go to Pacific Centre and you happen to go to the restrooms, watch out for a very short asian guy in his 30's... he looks Malaysian or something. Thing is this tiny dude spends hours in the urinals pretending to pee just so that that he can take a peek at every guy's junk. I seriously don't get why he does it. It's so clear he tries so hard his neck seems like its going to break. Have wanted to call security but kinda feel sorry for the dude.Check out Gastown. There's a few shops there, but you could do this area in like an hour. Btw... waiting 15 minutes for the steam clock is a waste of time.
You might be surprised at the amount of panhandlers or bums we have here. It's fine if you want to give them a coin or something. I would just avoid giving anything to this woman in her late 50's who always asks for 25 cents. She seems healthy and she could work. I once gave her a few coins but a very long time ago, then I found out she has an apartment by the beach in English bay.
You could also go to Main St. Why? I don't know. People always tourists to check out that area. Apparently there's some interesting shops, restaurants and I believe there are also a few hipsters in that area. I honestly wouldn't know... I have purposely avoid this area in over a decade.
Don't forget to grab a hotdog at Japadog on Burrard Street.
As for restaurants I don't really know much. I tend to always go to my favourite spots, although may people hate them. I like Stepho's on Davie Street. I also like Hon's on Robson for some Chinese... I like Gyuu on Thurlow, Hapa Izakaya on Robson or this other Japanese place on Denman where they sell some nice meat skewers.- <prophetone
- Main street has lots little hippy dippy coffee joints n vintage clothing n stuff. And of course, http://antisocialsho…prophetone

Peckinpah in GasTown...awesome food.
Miko Sushi at the Denman end of Robson is super good.
Pork sandwiches from Meat & Bread are out of this world....
Romers Burgerbar in Yaletown stands out from the crowd...
Vij's is as good as you'll get if you like Indian food...If your'e here before mid September, Douglas Coupland has a pretty good show on at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
- Check - ends Sept !st sorry.see_thru
- +1 for Meat & BreadVectorMasked

Poutine - try La Belle Patate, or Belgian Fries on Commercial Drive
As for shopping on Robson Street - forget it. It's a truly awful mix of all the chain stores that exist in every city.
If you're into shopping (which I never am on trips), I would suggest either Gastown or Main Street.
Some Vancouver things to do.
-Rent a bike and cruise the Seawall around Stanley Park
-Rent a kayak and go paddling in Deep Cove or False Creek (just don't fall in there, or you will get poo in your mouth)
-Take the gondola up Grouse Mountain and have a drink at the restaurant at sunset (or do the Grouse Grind - a hike up - then drink, and gondola down)

Vancouver is a fine city, but it's the close proximity to outdoor activity that (in my mind) makes it what it is.
If you want a walk in the woods, the Seymour Demonstration Forest is nice. There's a big suspension bridge (free) out that way, and some beautiful wooded areas.
If you like mountain biking, there's a lot of terrain on the North Shore—however, lots of it is pretty advanced. I thought I was a decent rider until I spent some time up there.
Deep Cove is beautiful. Rent an ocean kayak and take in the sights, from the water. Then get an awesome/heart-stopping donut at Honey's Donuts.
Spanish Banks at low tide (you can check tide info online) is amazing. We often take our dog and walk out for about a mile, and hardly see anyone. That said you really need low tide for this to be pleasant; otherwise, you end up at what feels like an outdoor mall with sand.
The city:
Gastown has some neat spots, but is reaching "Peak Hipster." Lots of good little restaurants and such, though. Bestie is kind of fun: currywurst and fries (very hipster, but tasty). East Van Coffee Roasters is awesome: good coffee, and they hand make chocolate on premises—the profits go into social programs.
Miku sushi may be the best sushi I've ever tasted. Not cheap at ~$25 a plate, but pretty amazing value compared to any other city—and really, really, really good.
Have a fun trip!
- Gastown hasn't been hipster for a while now. It's full yuppie.futuremongolian

Lots of good after-hours clubs on the east side of Gastown. Lots of good brew pubs in Mount Pleasant. Definitely hit up Brassneck on Main for a pint of Passive Aggressive.

Tofino looks beautiful, but to be honest we live on the coast so we wanted to go inland a bit. We would love to find a lake with cabins and some great hiking. We kind of want to get away in to nature for a while. Would rather not deal with resorts, hotels, shopping, Starbucks and all that if you know what I mean.
Whistler sounds very expensive and we are not going for the skiing or boarding.
We are thinking March.
Nelson Looks nice!
- monNom0
In March, you'll find late season skiing and snow in Nelson/Fernie/Whistler. Something like the picture you posted above is more likely later May to June at higher elevations. If you stay near the coast you might find snow-free, but cooler temps.
Harrison Mills is really pretty and quite rural, while being within an hour of vancouver airport. https://www.prettyestateresort.c…
You might also look at cabins on Bowen island or in Gibsons/Sechelt, though both are on the coast. Squamish is nice for access to hikes, but most will be under snow in march.
- I think the pic above is Yoho National ParkHijoDMaite
- We don't mind postponing till May, we thought snow might be nice but don't want it to dump on us.HijoDMaite
