I feel bad for Vettel too, and also don't get the reason that people hate him. From what little I've learned about the sport in the past year, I can tell that some people would give anything to have been a fan when someone like Senna and others were dominating. it's cool to see someone so dominant and realize how many people are integral to that.
I think the dislike for Vettel comes down to it just looking too easy. He had huge leads in most win last year, driving solo most of the time with no threat at all. People probably would have enjoyed it more if there was an on track battle with other drivers. If he'd had a few close races like Rosberg and Hamilton did yesterday, I think things would be totally different.
Still amazing to think that whatever engines Red Bull built, they're stuck with. They can't build new engines but can change the aerodynamics of the car; I don't think any combination is going to catch up to Mercedes. Should be a really fun season to watch. I am really excited about trying to make the race in Austin in October. Never been to one.

actually, short memory lapse. one reason vettel is hated is because of the multi 21 incident last year with former teammate mark webber. basically overtaking him against team orders. of course, not the main reason many hate him, but it didn't help with his popularity.
- I'd argue it's exactly his behaviour like that which gives him so many haters... at least in Oz.BuddhaHat

the sound you hear is also decieveing over video. sportscasters report a more full-bodied, albiet lower sound in the pits.
i kind of like the learning curve resulting from massive torque though as it seems to level the playing field in some respects.
having said that, i do miss last years cars.

I've been to 4 F1 races in the last 4 years and the sound of the V8s was always incredible in person. I'm not sure that these new engines have the same impact aurally but I do like hearing the turbo whistle and the wheels scrabbling for grip around the corners. I will catch another race next year - maybe they'll have the sound levels by next season.

sleeping is more interesting
- that's fair. i feel the same about nascar but for some reason f1 is quite fascinating to me..SteveJobs

Great race yesterday in Bahrain. That track was great. Wondering how that battle between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will continue throughout the season on Mercedes.
Anyone who was hoping for Vettel to be less of a threat sure is having their wish come true.
- Great wheel to wheel battling with Hamilton and Rosberg! Vettel must be pissedgoldieboy

The racing is amazing! I forgot about the shitty engine sounds now.
- Same here. Was a great race and I also barely noticed it.mg33

This years car is faster in straights and slower in the corners. And yes, the most disappointing sounding car ever!

I'm still hoping to go to the race in Austin, TX in October. I have family near there and seemed like the tickets were cheap last year.

^ it is great, even if you're just a casual fan.

*one* of the best races ever in formula 1 racing history. i've been pulling for nico for a few years now. like jenson, he's got a great and very professional attitude in the sport and he's pretty consistent when given a good car. he seemed a little sore for 2nd place last night, but i'm looking forward to some great battles this season between the two.
glad for ricciardo as well. good result considering how far back in the field he started with the penalty.
i feel bad for vettel. i don't hate him like others do (and still don't get the reason why many do). his car just doesn't seem to be delivering for him. hopefully he can be competative this year.
and feel very, very bad for jenson to have to retire on his celebrated 250th race. :/
finally good job to force india for putting together a good race package between their drivers and cars. well done for podium finish!
big fan of f1 :)
