I am 27 and for the past 5 years been living with 8 people (two couples and rest dudes) in a fairly large house in Tustin, CA. We had just moved in while in our last year of college. They were all 3D art and animation students and I was the only Web Dev.
Out rent was $3000 and split between the 7 rooms we had made, it was damn cheap. With hard times in the industry and people not being able to find work in the 3D field the house allowed us to stay in the Orange County area.
It has been a crazy and fun few years, and we are all moving out this month.
- jesus, 8 people?!?!Milan

I used to live in house on an 80 acre piece of land outside county line with 13 people, 3 dogs and some stray cats. Then went on to live in numerous other situations with roommates until getting my own spot in the hood for to much money. Now I am back together in the roomie situation, conveniently enough with my wife. She cleans every now and so often but steers clear from the kitchen and dishes. We have a garden, that's nice. I leave the furnishing to her. Miss the good ole' days of living by myself thou. I can't blast the metal anymore at 3 in the morning. Not that I'm even up at that time anymore. I have tamed down a lot since we moved together and got married. I am currently 36.
- "13 people" FUCK THATanimatedgif
- It was interesting to say the least. The kitchen was the main issue.dasohr

If you're over 30 and have one I find it a bit sad TBH.
Better off living on you own even if it costs a fuckload, you can't live like a college student forever.
- Why not? This attitude is stupid.nb
- Time to grow up and find a woman.freedom
- with all due respect, I find your comment a bit narrowminded. But hey.. to each its ownMiguex
- sounds like something a privileged fuck would say. PF is that you?ohhhhhsnap
- Not really, I had a roommate until last year. Never going back to that.animatedgif

A long time ago, dude was a cunt!
I like to have a drink once and a while and every time I'd passed out my room mate would punch me in the sack or flick my eyeballs. I developed a gut turning poultry allergy living there. He was crazy. Never had another room mate after that.

I was 27 when I decided no more roommates.

31 live alone. Surrounded by work desks and projects on the go, and no "lounge". No sofa and TV. Keeps home life productive and interesting.
Last roommate told his Mother he was moving out, and in turn she emailed me to let me know. I have no words.
I'd get a live in chef or maid before I got another flat mate.

I'm almost 40, I never had a "room mate" per se, but i did have dudes rent rooms from me in the past. Since I was the owner, I looked at them more like my bitches than my room mates.

33. Never had a roommate and hopefully never will, other than gf of course. I couldn't live with a roommate, I'd probably kill them for doing something stupid.
I don't have cable. I only watch shows and movies I download. I usually listen to podcasts when I'm doing stuff at home. Either music, comedy, design or business. I've learned so much from them.

Whatever you do avoid Australian roommates. The US Gov recently opened up more visas for them and they are flooding NYC and probably other states as well. While the women are hot, I might go as far to say a majority are a bad lot. Without asking, they will wear your clothes, eat your food – deny it all, and talk ignorant, racist crap without batting an eye. It's really stunning. Only until I confronted them about their disrespectful behavior, which they denied, did they start straightening up. I've talked with others who have had the same exact experience, word is getting around quick, "avoid them like the plague."

I've mostly lived alone after college beside living with a girlfriend. I don't think I could have a roommate at age 28 unless I really needed one.

I use to have a roommate until 27. I moved to Austin and was able to to have my own place. It was 9 months ago that I move to NYC and had to commit with a roommate to buy enough time and really get a feel for the city and the different neighborhoods. The roommate is alright clean and responsable. Sometimes however there are really load sex noises which are unusual and funny. The contract ends this September and by that time I will be ready for my own place. BTW my girlfriend lives with. Just turn 32.

I'm 51 and have owned my place 7 years as of Friday. My gf has been living with me for 4 months. I'm rather fond of the situation so far.

I lived with roommates until I was 47 in a three story townhouse in Boston. We had a 3-story townhouse in which I had the whole top floor of (1200 sq. feet for my floor alone). I see no problem with sharing space in a expensive city. We were in one of the best neighborhoods, the apartment was beautiful. I moved because I had a string of roommates who didn't take care of household items like cookware and furniture. It got old quickly and I decided to move on. I lived there for 8 years, 6 of those years were with really great people who I enjoyed sharing my life with.
- Sorry for the repetitiveness =)Josev
- I dont know what my long term plans are so owning in Boston doesn't make sense at the moment. I dont love this city, I was brought here by my ex-bf.Josev
- was brought here by my ex-bf while he attended MIT. I once owned a house in the midwest. Renting and sharing often makes sense.Josev

I had a roomate for like 7 years, it started because of money but we became good friends, we got along very well and we even worked on projects together too.
I lived alone for like a year and 1/2 then got married and now live my girl.
I don't see why is there a problem to live with a friend, if you are respectful of each other spaces and you get alone, it's all good.

what you really should be concerned about is grown man wearing uggs or crocs, because chances are they were those in public, what do you care who they live with?

38, lived with girlfriend for 9 years, she moved to her parents, I changed the agency and the city, now sharing apartment with three students. Nightmare. Looking for a micro solo place thou. As long as I am single it's ok, advertising business means coming home at 6pm and doing some freelance work for an hour or two, so all I need is a bed, a shower and a desk ..
