I am curious if any of you use your monitor in vertical position. I have macbook pro that is connected to rotated Dell UltraSharp U2713H 27". I've been using it like that for a couple of weeks now and noticed that my productivity went up.
Things that I found are better on vertical monitor:
- Code Editor ( more visible code )
- Switching between Spaces
- Reading long articles
- Visiting one page (long ) websites
- PinterestThings that are not better on vertical
- Photoshop / Fireworks
- Watching video
- QBN

also good if you only design movie posters or posters in general

Or if you work laying down. (on your side) :)

I use a 27in iMac with a vertical rotated 24" Dell monitor and I love it. I do most of my work on the iMac screen and then have my palettes, chat windows, etc on the rotated screen. I really like this setup because I never really used the farthest left portion of the Dell monitor when it was landscape.

im looking at this post on a vertical monitor as i type.
very much enjoy it for viewing sites when doing web dev as most people don't have a site wider than 960. (i use it as my 2nd monitor. my code is on my main monitor.)

Can all displays do this?
- No, I think only some of the newer ones that are advertised as such. Like some of the higher end Dell ultrasharps.nocomply
- thought it was more of a video card thing, basically you can do it on any display where its stand will pivotmoldero
- no?moldero
- yeah i just checked, All my displays have this option and 1 is a TVmoldero
- all can do that, it's an os thing.
uan - Damn, I stand corrected. Just checked my settings on OS Mavericks and I can do it even on my old lcd.nocomply
- I just turned my macbook on it's side but it doesnt seem work. It's also very hard to type.Josev

I currently have a Dell Ultrasharp 24" display, and I've been using that in landscape mode with my macbook pro as a secondary little screen for email, calendar, etc...
I just bought a dual monitor mount on Amazon, and I plan on buying a second dell ultrasharp display to go vertically and ditch my little laptop screen.
To me the vertical display seems better for reading email, word docs, and allows me to browse websites with less scrolling.
The only issue I'm concerned of is whether or not the vertical display will be too tall once it's mounted. I guess we'll have to wait and see...
