I just bought a turntable last weekend! First time with one. Got the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. Finally realized that my Spotify-only listening habits were doing an injustice to so much great music I like.
Don't see myself becoming a massive junkie for records - my wife will keep that in check - but I'm glad I got a good turntable that will be worthy of a better amp and speakers in the future.
- Yeah, I'm sure you'll be able to control yourself. MWAAAHAHHAAAAHAAAADRIFTMONKEY

recent LP finds
picked up 2 of these in a series of god knows how many, recorded in Vitaphonic Stereo in 1962
ahh I remember Jack (the lad) he was Artful Dodger in Oliver,
he's brave to take on The Beatles and The Small Faces on his debut LPin 1969 the best way to flog LP's of dodgy cover versions was of course
to have the ladies showing their lovely knickers. The man responsible refuses
to show his pants but at least he's left some deck-chairs out for the ladies, nice.a suprising find this week, never seen another copy in all my years,
it features music by John Barry on it, but I was shocked to see no songs
about red double decker buses, tsk...excellent double album of early songs by old rockers - released in 1974
with a great pic on the rear of the sleeve.

some fine finds at the boots yesterday, a lot of Blues & Folk LP's and some weird oddities, like this...
released in 1975 there is more than a shade of Python & The Holy Grail on some tracks
listen here : http://www.mediafire.com/listen/…
10" EP from 1958 shame about the tape around the edges but the vinyl is sweet
the pick of a run of Marble Arch re-issues
Coventry based singer/songwriter Folk from 1971
just had to pick this 7" up, but what a shame it's utter shite!
got those MFP budget issue Blues
a gentle Acid Folky duo LP from 1971 on Trailer. the tree is sparing the lady's width, a bitI had never come across this before, also released on Trailer Records in 1970
the rear of the sleeve below, there is an excellent version of Alison Gross on side 1

the boots were pretty thin on the ground today but I found some nice bits n bobs
UK to Denmark export issue
bootleg of 60's recordings, sleeve was a bit tatty but the vinyl is sweet
Xmas instrumentals, dunno what they were smoking at Charisma HQ but it must have been strong
features clips of jingles and DJ's prattling on,
unfortunately it's all rather self indulgent and not
in the same league as Capitol's Kenny Everett but
you can tell they wish they were
8 track Cornish radio jingles selection
JC's debut 7"
probably released in the wake of the great Bingo craze of 1973
it sounds suspiciously like My Old Man's A Dustman to mesketches written by half the future Monty Python team as well as 2 of The Goodies + Barry Cryer
is there a weirder looking sleeve for an LP released on the budget World Record Club label?
loving the pun on the sleeve, I nearly had a harp attack!Oh Brother Where Art Thou? eat your heart out
most folks seemed to have not known what this great LP
was as it had been sitting in a well thumbed box

Sunday's car boot finds
excellent use of paper company sleeve for a band who probably got mistaken for Slade more than they liked
his debut release - a hand stamped 12" promo
don't remember this show at allMax offers good advice on pit safety bless him, so c'mon singalongwithmax!
Captain Mainwaring SINGS!
camp classic with instruction booklet
great FX LP from 1974

picked up some unusual vinyl at the boots this morning
this was my best find today, a 78rpm of The Kings Speech from 1935
it came in a Scottish record shop sleeve too
and is beautifully etched on the other sidean hour long BBC lecture by Sir Bernard Lovell released in 1967
a pretty rotten and not at all scary poetry 7"
pretty funky A side despite slightly dodgy sleeve art, no date on sleeve or label + some odd quotes too!
first record I have ever come across related to darts, signed by the great Eric Bristow too
Mental Health Charity flexi from 1962
sweet green vinyl flexi from the 60's
I guess a £100 was a lorra money in them days

last weekends car boot finds
French EP by the girl band with a slightly unfortunate name but apparently
it was derived from the first letter of each girl's name (a bit like ABBA)love this artwork (the record is rubbish btw) it was very popular in the early 70's
and it reminds me of old mags and the TV show Magpie, Noel plugs away inside the gate-foldthis sounds like great Library music but is in fact a Swiss jazz fusion band who released this LP in 1976
unusual and pretty scarce album released in the early 70's on Deroy & features
a track by 'Pop' Group which is short and more electric guitar wig-out than Pop
found in the same box was this old album by Ivor Cutleralso found together but in another box a nice pair of Marty Feldman albums
actual GG too much? luckily BA has that Glitter sound you need!this was a nice find, with a cool label too I dimly remember a Hepworths
shop on the high street years ago, but guess they've all long gone now
- Gardener0
most of these I picked up for 50p a pop at a local auction last weekend
the band who became Love Sculpture who then became Rockpile - all are Dave Edmunds,
note Tim Rose mis-spelt credit
French imported Russian folk 8" acetatereleased in 1969 to celebrate the investiture of Charles Phillip Arthur George Mountbatten-Windsor
as the Prince of Wales - sung by Meic Stevens
various Folk LP from 1977I had to get this as a companion to my Teach Yourself Yorkshire album
tatty sleeve but great tunes!
Jazz drum heavy late night drink 7" released in conjunction with Radio Luxembourg
2 x LP - loving awareness is free, is free, is free...
2 x LP of music for Dungeons & DragonsWWII 2 x LP with all the big hits but it bombed in the charts

on first glance I assumed this was related to Princess Diana
(it's not) and that it was the lovely Nicole Kidman on the cover
(it isn't) however that is Patsy Kensit in the small pic
the A side is a song featuring Mike Sammes singing about the
joys of paint, I'd imagine it would be either a bright purple or garish
lime as it was 1972I've never come across this before, the 1 track per side issue
of Kate's On Stage 2 x 7" promo - used in jukeboxesgreat Blue Horizon double album of bluesy tunes, shame about the tape edge wear
issued on blue label Argo Records in 1960 this is a tough listenthis was one of a number of stage/film albums in the same box,
it was curious as it's a promo copy with plain labels and apart from
being a book and a 1923 movie it seems there is little else out there
about this - Denis Norden (92) is still going though
recorded at The Whitehall Theatre in 1966impressive line-up on stage paying tribute to T.S. Eliot who had died earlier in 1965
US album released in 1977 signed on the rear by the Mikron Theatre Company who are still going!

This one plays like collection of samples rather than a music album. Weird as shit. All 6 records cost me £5 in total which I was rather happy about
- I have that Todd in a die-cut sleeve, such a great LPGardener
- Tomita shit is wild. Samples for days though.section_014
