recent LP vinyl finds, some of these were in a box
with a few gold London label 7"s, they were a bit tatty
and some had lost their tri-centres but nice to find anyway!http://i207.photobucket.com/albu…
I actually nearly left this as I knew nothing about it
and some other records caught my eye, but am so glad
I did pick it up as it turns out to be really good and also
pretty rare as well as having a big blue sticker in the middle.another scarce find was this LP by Sixto Rodriguez
the cover of which I didn't quite recognise until I realized
someone had actually cut the front flap off!
This too turned out to be a lovely listen and an absolute keeper
one of several Christian folk albums in with a job lot
I won for £2 at the auction yesterday, this one from
1970 by Larry Groce was the pick of the bunch
also in the same box was this record of old woodwind
instrument sounds, the intro's in a really plummy voice
alone are well worthy of samplingI guess it's fate that this turned up too as I only just
started watching re-runs of The New Avengers at the
weekend, but I am neither convinced nor scared of
the blokes with guns on the rear of the sleeveThis great old On-U Sound album was in the box at
Age Concern this morning for 49p
I already have it on vinyl & CD but could hardly leave it,
especially as it had these 2 x A4 sheets including the
original press release for this and the brilliant
End of The Century Party by Gary Clailoddest find of the week was this American album from
1967 which has some good spoken word samples,
it comes with strange sleeve notes and a little info booklet- Sixto Rodriguez?! 0.oscruffics
- yeah but missing that all important flap!Gardener
- psshhhhh.... i grabbed a shiny new Joy Division in only the inner sleeve over the weekend. still couldn't be happierscruffics
- ...."Closer" for £1 - can't complain

- die cut sleeve with different covers?Gardener
- No, I think this is the 2006 reissue. I'll have to look a bit closer.mg33
- the original press is sweet, it has diff pics to change the sleeveGardener
- Nice. I don't think this is that one, but I haven't opened it up yet.mg33

I will also preemptively post my receiving The Catherine Wheel's albums Ferment, and Chrome, that I ordered from Discogs. Stuff that ships from the Netherlands and Finland sure takes a hell of a long time to get to the US. I'm certain that each is sitting on a ship that's parked off the west coast due to the LA port strike.

picked up this number today, among other things:
http://www.discogs.com/Various-U…
says it's from 1970 on discogs and 1975 elsewhere. i am leaning towards the latter.

other one I grabbed today is Bryan Chalker
really nice country album from 1973. apparently the guy went on to become the mayor of Bath. He quit the Tory party recently because of their reluctance to support the music festival that he organises. He has his only radio slot now. What a boss.

Baby Bird - "Bad Shave"

Picked it up as a joke because it looks fucking awful, but actually it's very VERY nice. Beautiful in places, even.- yes baby bird makes good music, no doubt about thathans_glib

I took off on a two tip-shop trip today with naturally
mixed results. The mess of vinyl below was sold to
a bloke who came in while I was there and he paid £40
for the lot, but most had been digged through and not
before I had spent half an hour grubbing about.this 1972 stars of wrestling 7" sounds as good as
any England football team record,
this Italian picture sleeve is different to UK issue
soundtrack to the 1986 movie Biggles features
Deep Purple, Jon Anderson and wacky dialogue clips
at another tip-shop I had better digs as they
had just had a deliveryI picked up this bootleg out of curiosity but have
not yet heard it, but worth a 50p puntin the same pile was this disco 12" by the ex ballet dancer,
WS1 indeed!
this was mixed in with several Flowered Up 12"s
(I did pick up Weekender)
cover versions from 1974 by the pipe toting Spanish guitaristthe real wedding album of the year 1975
this ended up being the only single I found in the vinyl piles- f'ing hell that is a lot vinyl in the first picture! the most i've ever seen at our tip is 3 boxesscruffics

an unexpected find at the indoor car boot this morning
spookily I also met my own local Ghost Detective
at a car boot yesterday, our paths had first crossed
several years ago when I met him in the village and
he told me of his other great love David Bowie!
listen to side 1 : http://www.mediafire.com/listen/…
he also gave me his card
